THE MODERATOR: Here with Megan Khang and Ally Ewing. Take me through what the last two days have been like for you.
MEGAN KHANG: It's been extremely fun playing with Ally. This is our first time really getting to play together. It's like we've just kind of been feeding off each other, been there to support each other through the good and the bad. Mainly more good than bad, so it's been really fun out there.
THE MODERATOR: Ally, what are your thoughts?
ALLY EWING: Yeah, I think this is such a fun format for us. It's something different than we are typically used to. Certainly a pretty cool pairing just getting to play with Megan. We didn't play together at Solheim, but on the same team, so it was fun to kind of pair up. Our games work really well together, so we're having fun.
Q. Megan, what format do you like the best or do you think shows your strength the most as you've been competing over these past two days?
MEGAN KHANG: I mean, I love best ball, but like alternate-shot is such a great challenge. I would say like just by the scores we did better in best ball. But again, it's such a fun format, like Ally said, and I personally like best ball because, I mean, you're never out of it.
Like you're there for your partner. Even if one of you have a mistake and you're just kind of always rooting for each other.
We were joking on the golf course today that you were way more supportive when your partner hit an errant shot than if it were you that hit an errant shot because you're just like so much harder, but you don't want your partner to get so down on themselves.
Q. Ally, what format would you say you like the most?
ALLY EWING: Yeah, I feel like if you're rolling, best ball is definitely -- you can kind of have a little bit more fun. It's a little less stress.
There's certainly parts of alternate-shot that are fun, especially like I know Megan is a great ball striker. She hits a lot of fairways, good putter. So it's fun to join up together.
Me trusting my ball-striking, have a good ball-striking team, I feel like that's really a good thing for alternate-shot.
Q. There were birdies across the board between the both of you. Megan, did you feel maybe on some holes that you could take more advantage of? How much more comfortable is it having a partner maybe when you don't make the birdie that you want but you know that she's close?
MEGAN KHANG: I mean, honestly, I think a few of the birdies that I had today were because Ally was in tight and I was like, I've got nothing to lose here, and they just happened to go in.
It was like, it was kind of good. We bounced back after a little hiccup today, and again, like Ally just kept the birdie train rolling. It's really great to feed off of each other.
Q. How did the history of this team come together? And did Pat have any influence at all?
MEGAN KHANG: So a lot of people know last time I played with Annie, and Annie had not known -- did not know if she wanted to play this event early in the season. I guess Ally kind of heard from Austin that I wasn't a hundred percent with Annie, and then Ally texted me, and luckily Annie texted back in the same day, which is a rarity.
And so Annie didn't know and she was like, Hey, if someone else asks you, go for it, and that's how Team Al and the Khang came together.
Q. Pat had no influence?
ALLY EWING: No. I think in some ways I think us as players were kind of looking for that good partner that potentially we could be paired up at Solheim Cup or maybe just on the same team. I was certainly going through the list of potential, and it was good that I could grab Megan.
THE MODERATOR: What was the mindset as you guys went into yesterday's alternate-shot, and will you keep that mindset going into tomorrow?
MEGAN KHANG: I mean, we played the practice round together and we did do a few alternate-shot holes, and Ally told me the one rule she had was there are no sorries on this team. I told her like after the round, I was like, You're going to be mad, but like I am sorry. She's like, No. I was like, Okay, well, good job, team.
But no, like she keeps it very light, very fun, and that's exactly what we're going to do tomorrow and tighten everything up on my half.
ALLY EWING: We both hit some shots -- it's still golf. But tomorrow alternate-shot again, I think we'll still roll with the same like odds and evens as we did yesterday, and just try to give ourselves a lot of looks and see what we can shoot.
