THE MODERATOR: Here with Team All in. Cydney, take me through what the second day felt like for you two of you.
CYDNEY CLANTON: I'm not going to lie, it was a little bit more of a grind. I think we had to stay really patient, which I think we did. We made a couple birdies on the front but they weren't really easy birdies.
So I think we did a really good job of staying patient, and when the rain came staying even more patient and knowing that there were birdie opportunities out there, and as long as we stayed patient we'd made a couple.
I think that's what we did coming in really well. We stayed patient, we had opportunities, and we capitalized on a couple coming in.
Q. Jasmine, what was the game plan as you took on the second day here at Dow?
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: Well, like she said, like today I felt like we're grinding a lot. There's a lot of good saves for par for me to make her feel comfortable and go for the birdie.
Yeah, I just feel like with the weather, we got rain in maybe a hole or two, so it's harder for us to make birdie on those holes, which is like 12 is an easy one.
But yeah, we're grinding and had a couple birdies coming back on the back nine, so it's good.
Q. Was there an expectation to today? Did you have a number set as you took on today or was it just make as many birdies as possible?
CYDNEY CLANTON: No, I think it's always to make as many birdies as possible and to have as many opportunities as possible, which it's still just golf.
Yes, I have a partner and yes, it's awesome to have a partner sometimes, but it's still just golf. I think each of us just went out and tried to have as many opportunities as possible.
And we had a lot of opportunities. We capitalized on some we didn't capitalize on others, but it was a good day.
Q. Jasmine, when you talk about those par saves or maybe you feel some of that struggle, I know you two communicate well with each other on the course. What did you guys say to each other or was it a pat on the back or was it a pep talk to keep going? Was any of that happening on the course today?
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: No, it was hole No. 13, par-3, so I hit a really bad shot to the left and she hit a good one like not so far away from the hole, and I just walked there and just smiled, like I'm going to have fun with this shot. I don't know how it's going to go.
And then I just made up-and-down from all the way left on the green and people just loved that shot, and I'm like, well, that's par. But like we did not really apologize when I hit a bad shot or when her hit a bad shot. It was just like, what are we going to do from here, how are we going to have the opportunity to put it on the green or make birdie from there.
We don't really talk much, but we know what to do.
Q. How important was it to stay patient?
CYDNEY CLANTON: Extremely important because you know this format, people can go very low and teams can go very low, and so you kind of just have to stay patient, because when you've played four, five or six holes and you haven't had a birdie and you've felt like you haven't had a great birdie opportunity, you just kind of have to stay patient because you know that either of us can get hot at any moment.
In 2019 we had like seven or eight birdies on the back nine, so it's still a possibility. It was still a possibility to go really low. You just never know when the momentum is going to change into our favor, and so I think we did an extremely good job of staying patient.
And neither of us seemed to get real frustrated. I think we both did really good when the other one had an opportunity to make par, whether you were in a good position or not in a good position. So I think we both scrambled extremely well today, which I think helped the other player for when they had a birdie opportunity.
Q. Jasmine, what's it like when you feel that momentum kick back up? Do you think about the back nine memories that you had in 2019?
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: I mean, going through the back nine I feel like, well, we have a chance. I mean, it's possible that we can go really low on the back nine. All we do is just try our best and try to get opportunities as much as we can.
I mean, even though I hit a couple bad shots I still make a par, so to make her feel comfortable, as a team I think we do a pretty good job trying to save par for each other and the other one will go for the birdie. I think we're doing pretty good.
Q. How special does it feel to be doing this well at a tournament that has had such great memories?
CYDNEY CLANTON: It's good. It's awesome to be here. I think all of us just want to be competitive. I know that's my goal personally each tournament. I just want to be competitive.
Making birdies, seeing your name up at the top, that's what we all play for. We all play to win. So to be competitive, especially since we were so competitive two years ago, it was a lot of fun.
But we have two more days and it's a lot of golf, and with alternate-shot tomorrow, we'll have to play just as good and just as hard.
