Quick Quotes

THE MODERATOR: Here with Lakareber and Georgia after the final round of the Dow Championship. You both made a really good run up the leaderboard today, was exciting to watch. What was it like being out there being a part of that run?

GEORGIA OBOH: It was really special. Coming in this morning, it was chilly and windy, and I wasn't sure how today was going to go, but just really grateful to have such a great partner this week, and just really enjoyed my time here.

LAKAREBER ABE: Yeah, like Georgia said, it's nice when you have a good partner. She's really reliable, so it made me be able to be a lot more aggressive, and I think today I was just like, let's make as many birdies as possible; it's going to be tough, it's windy, it's cold, and we got a few early, which was nice, and it kind of got us rolling, and happy to end with two more.

Q. Talk about that front nine, how exciting that was in that little stretch of a lot of birdies. What were you guys feeling? Not sure if you were aware where you were on the leaderboard.

GEORGIA OBOH: I didn't really kind of pay attention to how many birdies we'd made on the front nine, but really we were just trying to take it one hole at a time, one shot at a time, and just really focus. There was a bunch of wind, and the greens were rolling really well. We knew if we got close, we could make a lot of birdies.

LAKAREBER ABE: Yeah, I won't lie, I'm a peeker, so I kind of knew. I knew people were making a lot of birdies, so I was just like, let's try and make one more, let's try and make one more. There were some gettable pins on the front nine, so you could be a little bit more aggressive. But it's really easy -- it's not super easy, but it's nice when you have a partner like Georgia.

Q. Getting into this event as a winner of the John Shippen event, talk about how thankful you are for that opportunity and just the experience from both of you this week to being a Dow ambassador.

GEORGIA OBOH: Yeah, winning the John Shippen was really big for me this summer. I had a lot of things lined up, and knowing that I was going to play two LPGA events was really special, and then coming here I'd never been to Midland before, and I didn't really know what to expect, but it's been such a great week. I'm just so thankful to Dow as the title sponsor for having this event here, and just really excited for things to come.

LAKAREBER ABE: Yeah, I got the call up on Sunday, so I was really excited to come. As a Dow ambassador, it's been amazing being here in Midland. Everyone has been super nice, everyone who works for Dow, everyone who lives in the community, and it's been cool to see how much Dow does for Midland and how much they support this place.

I think just the whole week, playing the Shippen, playing with Georgia, getting to know Georgia better. Four rounds with her has been so much fun, and I feel like we can talk about anything, and it's great because I don't always talk a lot, but I can ask Georgia anything, and she can just keep the conversation going. Just a really fun week, and I'm just so grateful to be a part of it.

Q. With this finish, a really solid top-10 finish right now on an LPGA Tour event. What does this do for both of you moving forward, confidence-wise especially?

GEORGIA OBOH: Yeah, I guess it just means that all the work we've been putting in behind the scenes is paying off. Obviously there's always room for improvement, but just really pleased with I guess where both of us are now in our game, and just looking forward to the rest of the season and to next year.

I'd just like to thank my Lord and savior Jesus Christ for bringing me here and keeping me safe and for my family and for my friends who have been watching and supporting, thank you guys so much, and we'll get it next year.

LAKAREBER ABE: Yeah, like Georgia said, it's nice to dip your feet in the water and see where your game is at. I know I've had some tough years leading into this, and this year my family and my coaches, we've just really been trying to be one day at a time, one step at a time and small improvements, so it was nice to come this week and test yourself against the best and see how you stack up, see where you can get better, and yeah, it's a fun little week to take home.
