Q. Here with Carlota Ciganda. Solid start to your week here, 4-under 67 today. Pretty clean card. Just one bogey. Take me through the round out there.
CARLOTA CIGANDA: Yeah, I played pretty solid. 17 greens, so not many mistakes out there. I missed the first green on the first hole, No. 10. The ball just flew six, seven meters than we thought. It was really hot and the ball was flying a lot.
But then I made a few good putts on the front. 11, birdie, 13. Three-putted 18, but then I birdied 1, my 10th hole.
Then I have my chances on the back nine. I hit every green. Had some close chances and I just two-putted on the last for birdie, so pretty happy with 4-under this round.
Q. I feel like every time I talk to you now we talk about your ball striking. What's changed for you in the past couple months that's really worked?
CARLOTA CIGANDA: I think just work. I mean, I don't think there is any secrets. Just keep working. I think I have a great team around me, my caddie and my coach. And I started with my caddie Alvaro six, seven months ago, so at the beginning we were trying to figure out how was the best to work for me and how we work together.
I think now, yeah, we are both comfortable. He knows what I need. I feel more comfortable and he's a great green reader and he is helping me a lot.
Q. Won a few week ago in your home country of Spain on the LET. How much confidence did that win give you in front of a hometown crowd heading into a couple majors?
CARLOTA CIGANDA: Yeah, for sure winning is great and gives you a lot of confidence, but after you are done you have to start over again and start all the grind and practice and technique work.
Obviously it was great. I love playing in Spain and winning there. It's a new week, major week, the best players in the world, so you have to play good to be up there.
Q. And then just finally, what's the mindset heading into the rest of the week at a really tricky Evian resort course?
CARLOTA CIGANDA: Yeah, I think lots of patience at this golf course. I always say this, I think hitting greens is key to give yourself birdie chances. If you can make a couple birdies on the par-5s, that helps.
Yeah, just try to minimize the mistakes.
