Quick Quotes

Q. How was it out there today, a little windy?

MINA HARIGAE: Yeah, it was a little windy. A little shaky start. Wasn't hitting my driver all that great, but once I got that figured out, it was good.

Q. How did you figure it out mid-round?

MINA HARIGAE: Travis, my fiance that also caddies for me, we were just -- I was just telling him like what it felt like, why I was doing it, and he was like -- and he just said, it just looks like you're on your back foot, so I was like, oh. Because I was hitting my irons just fine but it was just my driver felt a little off. Yeah, as soon as I fixed that part, it felt normal again, so I was able to hit fairways again.

Q. What did you tell him when you said it felt a certain type of way?

MINA HARIGAE: I guess I just felt like -- I felt really closed at impact and I couldn't help but feel that way, and he was like, well, you can't really get through it if you're on your back foot. It made a lot of sense.

Q. How much different was Massereene and Galgorm, if at all?

MINA HARIGAE: I feel like it was obviously in better shape, this one, but today I felt like the greens were definitely firming up again since it wasn't raining all that much lately and the wind obviously, too, here. I don't know how it is at Massereene, but it was super windy here.

Q. Was it windy yesterday for you over there?

MINA HARIGAE: Not really, no, not too bad at all, and we lucked out with the weather. It didn't rain on us too bad.

Q. With the greens firming up do you think that will be able to help out with some lower scores over the weekend?

MINA HARIGAE: Probably, especially with the firmer fairways. But I think you could tuck some pins on this course and make it a little more difficult to get to, especially for us girls. But yeah, I think it's a great course.

Q. You had several birdies today, 1, 2, 3 and 4 and then 9, 17 and 18 so you bookended with some nice birdie runs. Can you take me through the first four and what was going through the mind, getting off to a quick start, even though the driver wasn't --

MINA HARIGAE: Actually I started on 10, so actually made six birdies in a row from 17 to 4 --

Q. Take me through that six-birdie stretch.

MINA HARIGAE: I was finally hitting good drives, started to get in a groove. I made a lot of good putts. They weren't like tap-in for birdie. They were all within like 10 to 15 feet and I was just making the putts.

Q. Were any of them a little more memorable than another?

MINA HARIGAE: 2, we weren't able to play a practice round on this course, so a lot of blind tee shots, so 2, I hit a good drive and it was kind of tucked way, way back there so I wasn't able to get all the way back there, but I made a really good big breaking putt from like 20 feet, so that was probably my longest putt on that stretch that I made.

Q. So you're six strokes back right now of the lead. Emma shot 65-over at Massereene. She's 13, you're 7. Is that a pretty comfortable spot to be do you think headed into the weekend and make a run at it?

MINA HARIGAE: Yeah, for sure. I think I'm in a good spot. This course yields a lot of birdies, but you also have to hit it well, too, so I'm looking forward to a good weekend.
