Quick Quotes

Q. Let's start out with your round today at Galgorm, a 3-under par-70, birdies at 1, 3, 7 and 12. Did any of those birdies stand out to you in helping get your round off on a good note?

MIN SEO KWAK: I couldn't practice, I couldn't do the round --

Q. Practice round?

MIN SEO KWAK: Yeah, practice round here, so I didn't know the course. My caddie Tom is a member, so he showed me where to go, where not to go, so that helped me a lot. So it kind of go smooth.

Q. Do you know what Tom's last name is?

MIN SEO KWAK: Tom Logan.

Q. How long has he been a member here, do you know?

MIN SEO KWAK: I don't know. He's a freshman in university in England right now, but he's like here for holiday, but he's caddying for me.

Q. How did you get connected with him?

MIN SEO KWAK: I contacted the caddie master here, so he connected me. It was kind of like, oh, I don't know who's caddying for me, kind of scary a little, but after I met him I got comfortable, and yeah, I got comfortable and enjoyed the rounds.

Q. Does it help? Have you noticed that having someone local helps you on these specific courses?

MIN SEO KWAK: Yes, I try to find a local members a lot for the caddies because they know sometimes better the course. So it helps me sometimes a lot, local people.

Q. You do that a lot, just mainly when you go overseas or even when you're back in the States?

MIN SEO KWAK: No, just this year starting doing like more locals this year. I kind of like enjoy better.

Q. How about just the course overall? What were the differences from yesterday at Massereene to this course today at Galgorm?

MIN SEO KWAK: This course had more dogleg holes, like blind shots a lot, so without knowing the course it was kind of hard to like trust where you're aiming. But after you go to your ball and it's on the fairway, it's kind of a fun course to play.

Q. Whenever it's on the fairway it's a good thing, right?

MIN SEO KWAK: Yeah, it's like surprise, yeah.

Q. Was it a little windy out there today?

MIN SEO KWAK: It was very windy on the back nine, so it was harder, longer a little bit some holes. It was hard to think where you're going to be, so try to play safe, par is good.

Q. You had obviously the rotation of Massereene and then Galgorm, and then you get to play Galgorm tomorrow and Sunday, sow get to play Galgorm three straight days. Do you think that's beneficial to have gotten Massereene out of the way and then focus on one course the rest of the weekend?

MIN SEO KWAK: Yes. We think of today as like a practice round so we kind of know where to go now, so we tried to play safe but aggressive a little tomorrow.

Q. What was your game plan yesterday because you shot the low round of the day at Massereene yesterday? How did you attack that course?

MIN SEO KWAK: Well, I just walked that course, so I don't know where to hit it, but I kind of tried to play safe. But the shots was like hitting to the hole, and then I made the putt. It was kind of a smooth, easy round. I didn't expect much these two days, but I shot under par, so I'm happy.

Q. You didn't play a single hole of a practice round on either course?

MIN SEO KWAK: No. I only practiced like 20 minutes.

Q. On the range?

MIN SEO KWAK: On the range.

Q. At Galgorm?

MIN SEO KWAK: Yeah, so that was it.

Q. Did you sleep a lot?

MIN SEO KWAK: Yeah, I rested a lot.

Q. I wanted to look at your season, too; how would you assess your year? I know the last year and a half has been crazy with COVID, but how would you assess your year in 2021 so far?

MIN SEO KWAK: 2021, I was kind of like struggling a little because missed cut by one shot a lot, so I tried to play better but I couldn't. I just like let it down and everything and tried to enjoy the season more and try for the end of the season more.

Q. You kind of let your expectations --

MIN SEO KWAK: Yeah, I think I'm going to wait a little more to --

Q. Anything you've been working on lately to help you find this --

MIN SEO KWAK: I tried to putt better because I hit it always like short, so I switched a lot of putters this year to find a good putter.

Q. What's the putter that you've been working with?

MIN SEO KWAK: I use Odyssey a lot, but now I've switched to my old putter, Scotty Cameron. Never used before, but I like it this week. Not hitting short much.
