Q. Connor, 6-under for your first two rounds here. How do you assess the first two days?
CONNOR SYME: Yeah, look, I'm in a good position. Didn't quite have my best stuff to be totally honest. It felt like I was a little bit off off the tee, kind of out of position a little bit in some circumstances.
But managed to chip and putt well when I needed to, and I managed to hole a nice one there for birdie on the last hole.
Yeah, just it's very tight around this golf course, so just a little bit here or there is enough to be kind if under some trees, and that was the kind of position I found myself in today.
Overall, pleased with 6-under for two days.
Q. Most players say when they come from Galgorm to here it's tricky because the pace of the greens. Did you find that today?
CONNOR SYME: I thought the green speeds were very similar. Like in practice, especially the back nine here, was really firm compared. So that was the challenging thing like right out of the bag. Left it just short. Trying to judge a chip shot from short and how it was going to bounce and then roll, that was the hard thing for us to do definitely, even the hole like around the start.
There were some dew still on the green, so that made it a little bit softer, but the other day it was firm. So that was the challenge of the thing really. Getting the ball in play was going to be important to have that control into the greens.
But, yeah, it's obviously a shorter golf course, but still has the challenge of you must be in the fairway.
Q. Is it more of a mindset thing when you go from playing so well at one course to try and emulate the next day at a different one?
CONNOR SYME: It is a little bit different obviously changing venues coming into this golf course having been at Galgorm yesterday. I think we're used to so many different challenges in pro golf, and that's just another one that goes with it.
Overall, I feel like handled it pretty well.
Q. Looks like you've had fun over the first two days playing with Ewen.
CONNOR SYME: Yep.
Q. How fun has that been? You managed to creep up on his lead.
CONNOR SYME: Yeah, yeah. No, we always have good fun. It is a bit strange, because obviously most of the stuff we do in practice and it's relaxed and bantering each other, so going into tournament mode I was a little bit like not sure how it would go.
But once the gun goes off you just kind of get in your own zone. We had some good fun pushing each other along. Like you said, we're both in a good position after two days, so hopefully we can have a good weekend.
