Q. I heard you say, My heart was pumping, on 17. Take me through that.
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, I mean, it was a close match all day. I knew it was going to come down to the stretch. Danielle hit a great shot on 17, and we had a 10-foot left-to-right putt. Yeah, I don't think my heart ever pumped that fast before in my life.
Q. A lot of times in foursomes, 2-, 3-over wins. You guys shot 3-under on your own ball, which is an incredible score alternate shot. What do you love about your teammate?
DANIELLE KANG: Honestly, I'm just so proud of her. It's been her first showing, first Solheim Cup match, and she held it together. I know she was saying that she was nervous, but she was hitting shots, she was stiffing it all day giving me birdie chances, and when I put her in a tough spot, she still left me alive. So I told her, I got it, I'll clean it up, and it's been really, really fun and enjoyable.
Q. For either of you, it's so important individually to get a point on the board early in these things. You almost feel like you're playing with the house's money. How important is that to you for your playing for the rest of the week?
ANDREA LEE: This is a huge confidence booster, especially for me being my first match ever in a Solheim Cup. It was so nice to have Danielle, who is like a sister to me, have my back, and I know I can trust her on her short game and chipping she's such a great chipper. So it was great. Just a big confidence booster.
DANIELLE KANG: Very proud of my little girl. She crushed it.
Q. A point for the red. Danielle, you must have been pretty pleased.
DANIELLE KANG: I'm just very proud of Andrea today. It's her first Solheim Cup, first one ever, and she played like a veteran out here. We had a game plan and she stuck to it and she just played so well.
Q. You have done very well. Can you give us some idea of what was going on under your bonnet? How were you feeling inside?
ANDREA LEE: I think on first tee, I was definitely pretty nervous. The crowds are the biggest I've ever seen in my life. But I think I settled in pretty quickly and having Danielle there is -- she's really reliable, so I jus had tons of fun out there, stayed really patient, and it was a really good match with Celine and Georgia and we shot 3-under today in alternate shot today, it was pretty good.
Q. Andrea, what a tight match that was. Your first taste of the Solheim Cup. Were you able to enjoy the whole experience today?
ANDREA LEE: Yes, definitely. I felt chills right off the bat, just seeing the crowds on the first tee. It's an amazing experience being here. We had a really good match all day, and Danielle's so reliable, and Georgia and Celine put up a good fight and it was just a really back-and-forth day, but it was awesome. Just a cool experience for me.
Q. Danielle, you've experienced all this before and to see how well the Americans have started this morning, how happy are you all right now? How much are you looking forward to this afternoon and to try and get a really nice big score out there?
DANIELLE KANG: To be honest, just focused on what it is right now. I was really proud of Andrea as a rookie to come out in the first match. She showed up like a veteran. She gave me a lot of birdie opportunities. We had a game plan. We all played well, even Georgia and Celine, they were just playing such good golf. So I hope people enjoyed it and we'll see you guys in the afternoon.
