Q. Rose, first Solheim ever and you came in with some really clutch putts. How were you handling the big moments out there?
ROSE ZHANG: Oh, it's been incredible. I've been loving the crowds and just being alongside Megan. It was just such a fun and electric round. We were ham-and-egging everything, and I felt like as long as I had Megs on my back, like ,I was able to come back from anything. So it was just an incredible first day.
Q. Megan, this is your second match of the day. How are you feeling? What's the stamina required to get through 18 holes here, 36 holes?
MEGAN KHANG: Honestly, I've said it quite a few times, I think, this week. A lot of us just kind of run purely on adrenaline. The body may be tired, but the mind will keep it going.
Q. What were the biggest moments for you both here at the match today?
MEGAN KHANG: The first tee Rose striping it onto the green because I had not hit a ball until then from my last match. So her hitting the green gave me the green light to go and freed me up a lot.
ROSE ZHANG: I don't know. There's so many moments. But Megs on 10 stuck it close. That was incredible. Then when we were on 16, it was just -- it was a really clutch putt. But I think electric. It was just incredible overall.
Q. There was a lot of back-and-forth. How great was it, I know it's not what you wanted, but to come out with a half and just fight battle all the way to the end?
MEGAN KHANG: Halves are huge. I think from past Solheims, you forget how important halves are. But, you know, obviously we'd love to get a full point, but Madelene and Gemma played really well and it was a fun match, honestly. Shots were exchanged, a couple tap-ins here and there from both teams, and again, both clutch putts from both, like, Gemma, Madelene, and everyone in the group.
ROSE ZHANG: I agree. I think halves are one of the most important things when it comes to team match play. You never know how important it is until it's down to the last half point point. So being able to really start out without losing is just huge for the next couple days when we come back.
Q. Reaching the green, making birdie on your very first hole in the Solheim Cup, how would you describe the experience this afternoon?
ROSE ZHANG: Oh, it's been incredible. I'm just so lucky to have Megan as my partner. It was a little bit of a struggle in the middle of it, but I feel like Megan just kept my spirits up. Even though I'm a rookie, I just feel like she is the veteran here, and I've just been able to learn from her and I'm so lucky.
Q. Even though this a new pairing, you two look like two old friends out there. What's the celebratory handshake that I saw you guys doing?
MEGAN KHANG: We came up with that on the drive from 1 green to 2 tee because she's a big handshaker. I didn't know that. But I have one with my boyfriend and my caddie, and Rose is like, We got to come up with one, too. And I'm like, All right, I'm game.
