Quick Quotes

Q. Carlota, you were desperate to get out yesterday morning. You go out first this morning in front of your home crowd. That must have felt very nice.

CARLOTA CIGANDA: Yeah, I mean, very happy to play here in Spain. I think it's really nice. That first tee, I mean, it's so nice. I feel like I am in disco dancing. The atmosphere is really nice.

I want to play with Emily. I think we had a great pairing for foursomes, for four-balls. We hit it pretty similar. Off the tee she's just great. She's been amazing. I tried to make a few putts and we played very consistent. (Crowd noise) -- in foursomes they made a few mistakes and we just took advantage, so very happy to get that point for Europe.

Q. We saw the fight back yesterday afternoon, Emily, and there seemed a real focus this morning from the team coming out.

EMILY KRISTINE PEDERSEN: Yeah, we knew what the job is, to go out and get points. And Carlota and I spoke last night, from the start every shot counts, and we did that. I think we were really good at staying present. We got over it when we made mistakes and then we just kept on fighting, kept the spirits high. So we did great as a team.

Q. How important was it with that momentum shift yesterday to continue that this morning and to go out and get points on the board early?

CARLOTA CIGANDA: I think it's important because you don't want to give too much to the Americans. I mean, they are tough to beat. They are really strong and they are really good, so we can do this, but we have to play good golf, and we have to be very present and hopefully that's enough.

Q. (No Microphone.)

EMILY KRISTINE PEDERSEN: It was just great. It felt good to go out early. We wanted to go out early and get that one point, so we can get up and get ahead of the Americans. So it was good.

Q. The Americans did apply pressure from the start and perhaps a few unforced errors from them, but you were still in the match and perhaps when they might have been 2-up it was all square and you really took advantage of that and it seemed like you just pushed on, you never let up, you did not take your foot off the gas, Carlota.

CARLOTA CIGANDA: Yeah, I think they played good. They did make a few putts. The greens are tricky. They were fast this morning, so I think speed was key. We had a great plan and Emily played amazing. She's just playing so good. I just tried to keep up with her. We make a great team, and I'm so happy to get that point for Europe.

Q. Obviously a lot of experience in this team, Carlota. Now you're sixth Solheim Cup appearance and you've got the home support rooting for you and they're even louder. How much did you enjoy it out there?

CARLOTA CIGANDA: I love it. I love Spain. This is home for me and it's just so special to play here with friends, with family. (Crowd noise.) -- just embracing every moment and enjoying.
