Q. Take me through some of the key moments in your match victory today against Charley.
DANIELLE KANG: Key moments were, I know that Charley was going to be a tough match. My putter kind of was cold starting off in the beginning. One of my best friends is on my bag and we just were chatting, and he's like, Don't worry about it. And then I said, sometimes it's more you believe in yourself and how you're playing, but I realize that it is playing really tough today. The greens are so fast that I said, You know what? I could win with ball striking. Let me just hit every single green and try and give myself tap-outs and two-putt everything. And that's what I tried to do. And the one holes that I lost are the ones that I didn't hit the green and didn't make up-and-down. But that's kind of the key moment where I just realized that's the play.
Q. What was the strategy of being out third today?
DANIELLE KANG: Stacy wanted some reds early on and she wanted -- she says my energy is very high, so she wanted me to pump up some girls. She wanted me to bring that energy out for the rest of the girls in the afternoon. So I'm out here to support.
Q. As one of the veterans to go out early and get that point and now be out here supporting Andrea, what does it mean to you to be able to do that early and then get out here and cheer your team on?
DANIELLE KANG: Honestly, putting everything together, I'm just very -- Stacy's plan, I just trusted her with everything she says. Even when she tells me, I need you to go to Andrea right away as soon as I'm done, a cart comes and picks me up. That's where I'm going to go.
She showed amazing leadership and it's just wherever she leads me, even if it's doom, I think I'm headed there. And I give her my full trust and I think that our entire team is just so together as one that we just have to wait to see the last putt drop and see what happens today.
Q. You just wrote everybody's name is on your shoes. What does it mean to have everybody on your team with you as you walk the fairways?
DANIELLE KANG: I felt Stacy's strategy, the way I felt and the way I wanted, was that I was playing for everybody on the team, and anytime I hit a shot, anytime I wanted to get down on myself, anytime I was mad, it wasn't about me. It was bigger than me and it was about everybody who was working so hard to bring a point or a half a point for this team. And I just wrote everybody on there because that's kind of our theme, play hard, play to win, and have fun and play for her. So I played for everybody.
It just took a village to get my clubs back. It's not just our team. It's the entire USA squad. I mean, I'm just very thankful to everyone for making everything happen so smoothly.
