Q. These rookies grinding it out to the very last. Sarah saying just a moment ago she told Lauren she was due for a putt. She was off by one hole. What was the key to grinding it out?
LAUREN COUGHLIN: Sarah played unbelievable. I was just trying to hang in there and make some pars so she could be free. She rolled in so many good putts. It was awesome.
Q. This is the very first time you're both playing in a Solheim Cup. This morning you both went out in that match. What did you take away from that experience that helped you this afternoon?
SARAH SCHMELZEL: I think it just calmed your nerves. There's so much anticipation of what it's going to feel like, how you're going to play. Obviously both of us settled in pretty well this morning.
We both came out this afternoon just really aggressive and wanting to play well and wanting to get a point after that first one.
So I think we just stayed aggressive all day and believed in each other.
Q. What do you make of what your team's been able to do so far? Is that when you expected from day one?
LAUREN COUGHLIN: We have a really great team. We had fun this week. I figured, if we can go out and have a good time, good things will happen.
Q. You had some good things happening this afternoon. Congratulations.
