Q. You guys got off to a really strong start. The Americans tried to battle back but you held on. What was the key to the victory today?

CHARLEY HULL: Just keeping it in there. I felt like we hit some pretty good shots into the greens and just staying in there. Even though when we did hit it in trouble we kind of got ourselves out of it.

I felt like we played pretty solid. I was just super pumped towards the end after hitting that shot close on 16.

And then 17 I've just airmailed it straight through the green and I kind of then realized how pumped up I was, and you can see by my drive on the last. I hit it miles down there.

I'm glad I didn't have that second shot in that Esther hit, because I probably would've hit it over the green again. That was a great shot she hit in there.

Q. Captain Pettersen said coming into today that you guys had some work to do. You got right to work. What was her message heading into this morning session?

ESTHER HENSELEIT: Just play solid, hit greens, hit fairways, keep them working for it.

And yeah, we played great. We played really solid on the front nine, then kept it together around the turn. Yeah, to finish it off like this, definitely a lot of fun.

Q. Charley, you're going to rest quickly, head back out in the afternoon session. You've been in a lot of these Solheim Cups before. What does your team need to do to keep making up ground?

CHARLEY HULL: Just even when you think you're out of it, just carry on grinding because it's not over until the fat lady sings.
