Q. What was your yardage on this hole?
CHARLEY HULL: I had 187 to the pin and I knew I had to carry the water, and it was either a little 7 or the big 6, and I was pumped up to I just hit a trap draw, drew it into the TV tower behind the green, and that was it. I just hit the shot that I had to hit.
Q. Are you aware of how many times you go back and forth between addressing your shot?
CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, I am. But it works for me. I'd say it's got worse the last few years, but I'm quite a twitchy player and I like to try and calm my heart rate down over the ball, and that's what I do until it calms down and I hit it.
Q. Beating the No. 1 player in the world so convincingly, how does that feel, first match of the day, to set the tone?
CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, it was really good. I knew I had to go out there and shoot a low score, and Suzann said to me they always knew I was going to play Nelly out first, and if anyone could beat her, I can, and that's what she said to me.
So it gave me good confidence. I shot 8-under with my own ball yesterday, and today I was 7-under through 14 holes. I know I have what it takes to play Nelly, and I feel like I left a few shots out there, as well, a few putts, but it was a good match, and I felts like we gave the crowd what they wanted to see.
