THE MODERATOR: 18-hole tournament record with a 9-under 63, bogey-free. Evaluate your round.
ATTHAYA THITIKUL: I had a great round today, really solid round today, especially had eagles. First time I holed out in a competition round. Yeah, I'd say today is my day but every day, it's not your day. Just happy with your day, your round. But tomorrow, it's like the past and just what you have to do.
THE MODERATOR: You mentioned that you holed out for eagle on 13, the par 4. Just walk us through that shot, what was the yardage and what club did you use and what was going through your mind when it found the bottom of the cup.
ATTHAYA THITIKUL: It's funny, as well. It's 102 yards to the pin. I grabbed a 52 in my hand, and my caddie just said leave it short of the hole, should be really easy. I'm kind of like, not really listen to him. Because like I think it's short already to even have that much spin, and then just be aggressive to the pin. Yeah, that's how it worked.
THE MODERATOR: I'll ask another one. So another bogey-free round. Talk about that a lot; if it's your day, it's your day but if it's not your day, it's not your day. You told me something interesting in Arkansas. You said your mind goes blank in rounds like this. Is that what happened today.
ATTHAYA THITIKUL: For sure. I just was telling my manager, like playing good today, I don't want to be in the middle of the leaderboard, because you're going to go off real early. It's really cold in the morning. I'm like, maybe final group.
THE MODERATOR: Oak Valley has tripped up a lot of players. I had a couple people tell me they did not see the round that you shot out there today, as something that would be feasible. What did you see on the golf course today? Is this a golf course you could be more aggressive?
ATTHAYA THITIKUL: Honestly I do like the course and how it's set up but I don't really like how to walk, because hard to walk. I just worry about like put the ball in position, because green speed is tough, as well. It's like very slopey and you have to put the ball, like, not really in a good position, you could have a 30-, 40-yard putt. It's my day, I don't know, like tomorrow -- if it's tomorrow or the day after, it's not my day, so I can't talk much. But today went pretty good. Pretty smooth today. Hopefully the three days after this is going to be like this.
Q. Obviously you know that if you do really well in this championship, you're bound to get Rookie of the Year and you're likely to become the top-ranking player. Does that play in your mind when you're on the golf course? Have you given thought to that today?
ATTHAYA THITIKUL: No, not at all. I just want to go out -- every day I go out and play, I just focus on what I have to do. I just think about golf, about how I'm going to hit every shot, I'm not really thinking about the awards or what I'm going to achieve that much.
