Quick Quotes

Q. Obviously you had the round of the day today. How did it go out there for you? Couple eagles on the card, a lot of birdies.

XIAOWEN YIN: Yes. Today my driver is pretty good and also like when I hit on the green it always pretty like close to the pin. And then I had a lot of chance to birdies and also eagles.

And then for those two eagles, yeah, I putted good, and also like the second shots on the green, it was perfect. Like the first eagle on No. 9 I drive good and I use 5-iron and hit pretty good, maybe like seven yards and I make it. Yeah, that's great.

And the second one is, yeah, I drive pretty good and 3-wood. It was like 220 I think and then I hit like five yards and I make it. Yeah. It was so good, yeah.

Q. With a 6-under you put yourself in contention to medal. I know you can't move on to Q Series because of the age thing.

XIAOWEN YIN: Yeah.

Q. How validating or good does it feel to come out here and compete with some of the better amateur and professional players in the game?

XIAOWEN YIN: Yeah, I'm here just for good experience. I'm here to learning. Yeah, I was really happy to play with them and, yeah, I will keep up the good work. Yes.

Q. What's it been like having Taneka on your bag this week, somebody that caddies for some of the better players on the LPGA. What's that experience been like for you?

XIAOWEN YIN: Yeah, feels like I'm so happy to be with her and we like talk pretty like good and we have good conversation and we do a lot of work together.

Yeah, I hope we can work next time. Yeah.

Q. Looking at a little bit of your history, you are the youngest player to ever win on the China LPGA.

XIAOWEN YIN: No, not no more.

Q. Not anymore, but at one point.

XIAOWEN YIN: Yes.

Q. Winning that event last year, how validating was that for you to be like, Okay, I can go pro one day, this is fine?

XIAOWEN YIN: Everyone ask me like are you nervous on the last day or what do you feel when you finish the tournament? I was like, I didn't feel nervous at all because I been through a lot. I was lead on 2018 -- when I was 13 years old I lead on the CLPGA and then the last day it suck; I was so nervous.

So like I been through a lot, so like, yeah, for now I'm just like just play good every shot. Yes.

Q. Awesome. Heading into tomorrow, what kind of feelings do you have going into Sunday at Stage II of Q-School, which is usually a pretty pressure-packed week?

XIAOWEN YIN: I don't feel nervous. Yeah, I'm here for experience. Yeah, so I'll just play well every shots and then, yeah.

Q. Looking at your fellow countrywomen, Ruoning Yin is playing really well this week. Do you two know each other?

XIAOWEN YIN: Of course. Like we have the same last name and then we are like good friends. We played a lot in China, yes.

Q. So did you all grow up together?

XIAOWEN YIN: Yeah, we -- probably.

Q. She's a couple years or only a year or so older than you. Did you play a lot of golf when you were younger?

XIAOWEN YIN: Yes, yes. We play Queen Sirikit Cup together. Yeah, I think maybe 2017 or 2018.

Q. Are you all hanging out at all this week like after golf when you can?

XIAOWEN YIN: No. We just like talk.

Q. Have you seen her quite a bit?

XIAOWEN YIN: Yeah.

Q. What have you talked about? Obviously both being from China it's been kind of cool to be up at the top of the leaderboard together.

XIAOWEN YIN: Yeah, I was so happy that I can play with her tomorrow. We just -- of course we want our both to get better. Yeah, so I'm really happy. Yeah.
