Quick Quotes

Q. So 10-under on the week. Into the top 45 and ties. How would you rate your round today?

SOFIA GARCIA: I mean, I think I did what I wanted to do over the week, but obviously I needed to close today. I was playing good golf, and thankfully putts started to drop in early in the round, so that kind of give me peace of mind coming to the rest of the holes.

I have a couple bogeys, but overall it was a round that I would've bought it at the beginning. Like at the beginning I would take it for sure. I'm very happy with it.

Q. How would you assess your week? Four rounds of solid golf; in the top 10 right now. How would you assess your week?

SOFIA GARCIA: I think the goal was to make it to top 45, and, I mean, it's a strong field. Everyone here, they're either pros or really good amateurs. There is a really good mix and top 45 look tough enough.

I have a rough start, and then once I went back to just golf and enjoying just the golf part without worrying about where I have to be, the golf started to put itself together. I started to get the course.

So as I went, I just kind of stuck to the strategy and trust my game and kind of fired up a bit, some putts weren't dropping as I wanted and some others did.

I guess that's very normal. But it's definitely -- I mean, the goal is for top 45. More than pleased with a top 10.

Q. You came from Texas Tech. Just turned pro in May. What were those years like as a Raider?

SOFIA GARCIA: I mean, they were great. I came from Paraguay and came to college. I learn a lot about myself as a person, and obviously golf grow up. I started to get more confidence and got used to playing in America, which is different golf.

I was pretty happy with it. I had a really good career. I got to break some records and got to play Palmer Cups, which representing Tech and my country, I mean, that was great. So I was pleased with my career. It went well.

You come as an amateur when you're 18 and hope for things to improve and they did, so I enjoyed my time at Tech.

Q. What kind of preparation were you, or I guess what did your prep look like heading into Stage II this week?

SOFIA GARCIA: Well, my last official tournament was in Symetra. I was a bit concerned about the competition, but I went home for a month after graduating and playing some golf in the summer, and came back to the U.S.

I played a Monday qualifier, and I drove actually from Texas to come and see my coach to get back to that mindset of preparing for a tournament. So I got to spend a couple weeks with him in Orlando, and they came down here, play a couple more rounds for the course and tried to tune everything in.

I think it worked out.

Q. Not a lot of golfers from Paraguay.

SOFIA GARCIA: No.

Q. What is that like being one of the only from your country to be out here?

SOFIA GARCIA: I mean, that's a big responsibility, but also it's a pride. You know, I actually got to play with my fellow Paraguayan today, which is not really common, and I'm very happy that we get to do this. It reflects on -- even though Paraguay is a small country it has a good women's golf, so I'm very proud of being part of that small group.

Q. Who was your fellow countrywoman today?

SOFIA GARCIA: Milagros Chaves.

Q. What was that experience like to get in to tee it up with her?

SOFIA GARCIA: I mean, I play with her plenty team tournament and represent our country, but it's been a while since we play together in a foursome so that was really cool. Just to have -- we were trying to make it to third stage and we both played together and both made it, so it's really cool.

Q. What's your prep going to look like for Q-Series?

SOFIA GARCIA: Actually play in the PXG Match Play coming up. I will go back to Texas, probably hang the clubs for a few days, and then we'll start to see what to do.

Going to Alabama I think there is a few details I need to figure out. Probably try to do something like here.
