Quick Quotes

Q. Really solid today. 7-under 65 to close out week one of the LPGA Q-Series. Top of the leaderboard. You've got to feel great about that round.

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, I mean, I think it was really just I kind of came into the day trying to shoot a couple under just to make sure I'm for sure in for next week, and just got some really good looks out there and made some really good putts.

Q. What were some of your highlights? Seven birdies on the card is always fun, but...

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, let's see. Made a really nice birdie on 9. I just think it's just a tough hole, and just had a good putt in there, maybe like 15 feet.

Then the par-3, 14, kind of made a mess of it the first time I played it, and then ended up getting to two inches just tapping in for birdie.

Q. You hadn't played bad, but hadn't probably gone as low as you wanted to do. How did you switch the mindset coming into today?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: I mean, I've been playing pretty solid. It just kind of felt like every round there is a couple of shots that definitely could have been better.

And I think these courses are just so tough, like it's so easy to kind of be playing okay and then just kind of hit a road bump.

So it was really just try to stay focused. Just keep taking like good swings at it and it'll work itself out.

Q. Being a fifth year college student, you graduated this spring, but you're used to a lot of golf in a short amount of time. Do you feel like that gives you an advantage over the next two weeks?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, I think so. It's really nice. Stew was my assistant coach my first two years, so it is really nice to have him on the bag. Really comfortable having him out here.

Yeah, just feels like an extension of college just having him help me out there.

Q. What had you been doing to prep for these two weeks?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, I played a couple of the prep events the NWGA hosted both here and at next week's course, so got to see the courses for a little bit and get a little more comfortable out here.

And then really just making sure that I'm rested and ready.

Q. Those events obviously helped you get your feel. How clutch was that to have those prep events?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: I think it helps a lot just because no matter how small the tournament or how big the tournament is, courses do play different under pressure and even just knowing it's a tournament, and also as well playing with other good players.

Seeing how they play the course and having the extra rounds definitely helped.

Q. Heading into next week, obviously got some time today and a full day off tomorrow. What are your plans for early next week?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: I think we're going to head over there tonight and then, yeah, maybe like nine Tuesday and 18 Wednesday or something like that depending on the weather. Heard it doesn't look too great.

Yeah, just do a little bit of prep but not overdo it.

Q. And obviously having seen both places that you're going to be playing, how different does the Dothan course play to Mobile?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: I think they're all tough. You just have to hit the ball well, have to have good speed on the greens, and par is always a good score an all three courses.

Q. And last question: What positives are you taking from these four rounds to the next four rounds?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, I've never completely finished a 65 out, just kind of bogeyed the last hole coming in, so I was just like, Get it done today. So I was nice to get that just set.

And even the first three days hit some really good putts, hit some really solid shots. So just trying to keep committing to my shots next week.

Q. What's your caddie's name?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Stewart Burke. And he's the head coach at Tulane now. So he moved but, yeah.

Q. Having that local knowledge is helpful.

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, he's just a good green reader, so definitely helps a lot out there.
