Q. So, 7-under round. How did it feel walking off that last green?
AUSTON KIM: It was good. I kind of went into the bunker long left and it was good to make up and down; solidified a good round.
Q. And then obviously great round today. Kind of gives you some momentum into next week. How do you plan on taking such a positive round and building on that?
AUSTON KIM: Yeah, first three rounds were kind of slow. I think I was kind of struggling with my putting or something in the swing, but I still managed to finish under par for two of the rounds, and worked out really well today.
So carrying those keys over and playing steady and taking advantage when I can.
Q. And then obviously eight rounds is a lot of golf. Bogeys are inevitable. Having some bad shots and not getting caught up often them, how do you stay positive even if something doesn't go your way knowing there is so much golf left to play?
AUSTON KIM: Yeah, when I played in college my coach always told me to stay where my feet are. I think that's definitely going to help the next week. It's a marathon. I was playing 36-hole days or longer tournaments, so just staying present knowing that I can bounce back.
Q. And then we're updating player bios. There are some that aren't updated and some that haven't been updated in a while. Making sure everything is up-to-date. Just some questions for that.
AUSTON KIM: Yeah.
Q. Where did you play college golf?
AUSTON KIM: Vanderbilt.
Q. What years were you there?
AUSTON KIM: 2018 to '22.
Q. And do you know your career-best finish? If not, you can just tell me what you're most proud of.
AUSTON KIM: In college or in general?
Q. In general.
AUSTON KIM: In general, I won twice in college and I think I finished like eighth at the Carolina Epson tournament.
Q. That was just first one, right?
AUSTON KIM: Yeah.
Q. What is your biggest accomplishment the golf world or what are you most proud of in your career?
AUSTON KIM: I'm proud of getting through Q-School. Proud of how I've been playing this week. I mean, this is my rookie year and I'm pretty proud of that Carolina start, but it was kind of tough a of that. I'm really proud of myself bouncing back after a few rough months and being able to contend.
Q. Do you know what your career-best round is?
AUSTON KIM: Yeah, I think 65.
Q. Perfect. Why did you decide to pursue professional golf as a career and why do you keep coming out here all this time?
AUSTON KIM: Yeah, I started golf because dad and my sister, and college golf was always the dream, and then once I got through college I knew that I wanted to turn pro. I knew that I had the ability and I wanted to keep getting better.
My sister was pro, too, and being able to follow in her footsteps is very cool thing to do.
Q. I love that.
AUSTON KIM: Uh-huh.
Q. What are your hobbies outside of golf?
AUSTON KIM: Outside of golf, I love reading. Love playing video games, listening to music, watching moves.
Q. So follow-up questions to that. Do you have a favorite book or author?
AUSTON KIM: Wow, that's kind of tough actually.
Q. Everyone I've asked that says read is like, I can't narrow that down.
AUSTON KIM: I can't. Well, I think one my favorites has to be Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.
Q. Do you have a favorite video game to play?
AUSTON KIM: I just play Call of Duty all the time. (Laughter.)
Q. I love it. And then you said Netflix.
AUSTON KIM: Watching movies, yeah.
Q. Do you have like a comfort movie?
AUSTON KIM: A comfort movie, wow, probably Back to the Future.
Q. Awesome. And then last question: If you weren't a professional golfer what do you think you would be doing?
AUSTON KIM: Probably be in law school right now.
