Q. All right, here now with Maddie Szeryk after her first round here at Q-Series. Hat was the mentality heading into today?
MADDIE SZERYK: I think just playing relaxed and trying to have as much fun as possible with it being Q-School, and just knowing that my game felt comfortable coming in. I like these courses. Just trying to enjoy it and get better from it.
Q. How are you trying to have fun in, let's call it what it is, a very intense situation.
MADDIE SZERYK: Yes.
Q. Playing for your card. How do you try to balance that?
MADDIE SZERYK: I think just to embrace the challenge of it. I'm here and that's how it is. Can't sulk and you can't be upset about it. You just have to go and try to embrace it and get better.
Q. Little bit of a slow start in your round. The bogey on 3 and really turned it around.
MADDIE SZERYK: Uh-huh.
Q. What went into that? Was there a mindset flip, something you were doing physically?
MADDIE SZERYK: I think just trying to say relaxed. I hit good shots. I had one poor shot where it just kind of pushed and then not great chips.
But I knew I was comfortable. Made a really good putt on 1 for par, so I knew if I just stayed patient with it, and then I hit it really well starting on I think 6 or 7 and had tons of chances all day.
Q. What goes into your preparation when you're preparing for potentially six rounds?
MADDIE SZERYK: I think rest is key, especially early in the week. I got here a little early and got all my work in. Now it's kind of like, okay, just co maintenance work and just get through it.
Q. Last one: Cold today; rain coming tomorrow. What are you doing to maybe prepare for some weather challenges out there?
MADDIE SZERYK: I think just knowing that it might be an even longer six days than planned. It could be we are here we're all day waiting. It is what it is. You can't change it. You just have to roll with it. Wasting energy being upset about it isn't going to help, so you have to go with it and spend time with friends during rain delays and try to stay loose.
