Quick Quotes

Q. All right, I'm here with Lilly Thomas after her first round at Q-Series. Solid bogey-free 4-under today. What was clicking for you out there?

LILLY THOMAS: At the beginning I was hitting my irons super well, even though I did have to scramble on the first hole to get that par, and then I started rolling from there. Hit some irons close. Had about three six-footers to convert to birdies, which helped start my round.

And then on the back nine it was my short game holding me together. I had probably two really good par saves, and that helped me stay bogey-free obviously, those up and downs, so, yeah.

Q. This is your first experience at Q-Series your parents were just saying. What were the nerves, feelings heading into this week?

LILLY THOMAS: I feel honestly not as nervous as when I play LPGA tournaments. Actually, playing LPGA tournaments I feel like helped me prepare for this, so I'm grateful for the sponsor's exemptions for the Northwest Arkansas Championship. Definitely more nerves there, so kind of made this tournament feel a little less stressful.

I feel like I've played some pretty big tournaments, so this is obviously going towards the next step, but not too nervous.

Q. What has that transition been like coming from college to professional golf?

LILLY THOMAS: I've been playing a lot of golf this semester, college tournaments on top of Q-Series, adding the LPGA, so I feel like I honestly played a full fall season.

So I feel like that's helped me transition and what to expect going from tournament to tournament this semester, so this semester has prepared me.
