Q. Here with Caroline Masson. I mean, nice start to your week. 4-under 68 today. How good does that round feel?
CAROLINE MASSON: It was good for the heart, good for the soul, too. I didn't score very well on the front nine. Hit a lot of good shots today, very solid off the tee and with my irons.
Yeah, made a very soft bogey there, super bogey on 2, which gets me a little bit behind on a par-5. So shoot 4-under after that was pretty cool.
Q. Where does that grit come from? You make a bogey on the second hole and you're like, man.
CAROLINE MASSON: Yeah, it's tough, you know, because things have not been going great I would say in the last few weeks.
It was just -- you know, you always say, oh, no, not again. Not this kind of stuff. I had a really good straight birdie putt on 1; didn't make it, and then I did that on 2 and I just knew it may happen, and I just had to dig deep.
It was really nice to come back and birdie 3, tougher hole anyway, and make a putt and just get it back.
That settled me a little bit, so really proud of myself and me and Derrick, my caddie, to turn it around that quickly. When things are not going well and you don't get off to a great start, a lot of times it can snowball from there, and we didn't let that happen today, which was nice.
Q. Being back here in the desert for the last time, I'm sure you're pretty familiar, but what are some the emotions this week?
CAROLINE MASSON: Yeah, it's sad. I've always loved this place since the first time I played here. So many good memories. It's a special place. The tradition of jumping into Poppie's Pond.
So definitely sad. I understand where we're doing it, but I'm just trying to soak in every second being out here. The golf course playing as good as ever, and just really try to enjoy every single minute out here.
Q. On that note, heading into the rest of the week, nice 68 to carry you forward. What positives will you carry with you?
CAROLINE MASSON: You know, just the way I hit the ball. I mean, we worked hard after missing the cut last week and got a couple key thoughts. It's working so far, and really fun to hit the ball like that.
I just need to keep working on that and keep having that same mindset, and hopefully to continues to be this solid.
