Q. Cheyenne, so great to see you. Congratulations on making the cut.
CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Thank you. Yeah, first time. I'm excited.
Q. We're excited to have this Chevron Championship come to Houston next year. You're very familiar with our city and how much golf means to our city. Are you pumped about the Championship coming back to Texas?
CHEYENNE KNIGHT: I am. You know, that's where I learned to play golf was in the Woodlands area and I know the state of Texas is really excited, and it's awesome that Chevron has stepped up and really making this major championship compete with the men with the purse that they're putting up.
I think that's going to be great and I think it's going to make a really good history once it moves -- it's going to continue the history, but really make a name for itself going forward.
Q. I know I've heard some of the women have mixed emotions. Excited about the new sponsorship, but sorry they're going to be leaving that course.
CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Yeah, you know, Mission Hills has so much history with Dinah Shore and Poppie's Pond. It's sad with the tradition and the memories, but I think women's golf really needs to step up, and Chevron is doing that.
We have to make a living at the end of the day, and I think Chevron and what they're going to do with this championship, they want to continue the championship and make it unique in a Texas way.
Q. Yeah, maybe if you win your mom won't break her ankle like Stacy Lewis' did a number of years ago.
CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Yeah, I remember that.
Q. Oh, my goodness. So the last time I spoke with you was at the U.S. Open when you guys were out at Champions. How has your game improved? Obviously it's in good shape if you made the cut at this championship.
CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Yeah, it's getting there. I feel like it's always a work in progress. I feel like I'm a lot better player than I was two years, just constantly learning and improving and just trying to like perfect my craft.
You know, I want to be out here and compete, I want to be in contention, so I'm just trying to like make sure my game is like that next step.
Making cuts is great, but I want to be in the mix, so just trying to do that a little bit more.
Q. What do you have to improve in your game to make sure you get to that next level?
CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Just be more consistent. I feel like I've made a lot of swing changes the last year, and I've kind of seen is start to pay off. Just a lot of the fairways, a lot of greens.
I'm a good putter, but if I could just hit consistency, you know, 15, 16 greens each round, that's what everyone strives for, but it's hard to play bad golf like that.
So just continue to working on my wedges and ball striking, and, yeah, that's about it.
Q. Has the mental game, have you been able to focus more? Is that what's helping you also?
CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Yeah, I worked with my sports psychologist a lot just really trying to find a good mix of like being focused and having fun.
Because this is my job at the end of the day and sometimes I take it too much like a job, so I'm just trying to have more fun out there.
This is what I've wanted to do since I was nine years old, so just kind of take a little bit more of that mentality, not be so hard on myself and that I am human, I mistake mistakes.
Just enjoy the process of it.
Q. You're a fun person. Every time I speak with you it's a delight to talk with you. So, yes, I agree. Have more fun out there?
CHEYENNE KNIGHT: I try to. I try to. Doing a better job of it this year.
Q. Like you told me, when your dad and mom named you Cheyenne, they obviously know how you have to fun if they named you after a George Strait song.
CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Yeah, I know, when you were singing it, I was named after that George Strait song, so, yeah, I think this is as Texas as you can get right there.
Yeah, my mom is here this week, so, yeah, they have fun. They enjoy watching me play golf. They're great. They've supported me since I started playing golf in the Woodlands, so it's nice to always come full circle, especially next week year when I'll be back in Houston.
Q. Thank you so much for your time. Bring a trophy back to Texas for us, okay?
CHEYENNE KNIGHT: I'm going to try.
