Q. Marina Alex, taking advantage of the new venue for this major championship, off to your best start in this major. What was the key to the low round today?
MARINA ALEX: I putted really well today. I made an awesome par save on 1 and I know that sounds silly but kind of got some good momentum in the right direction. It's a tough golf course.
I think for a longer hitter, it maybe is just a little bit more receptive into the greens having shorter clubs, but I'm not the longest hitter, so I had a fair amount of hybrids into these holes today so I just had to manage my game well and trust that I could get up-and-down when I was most likely going to be past the pin, but just trying to minimize the errors.
Good scrambling day, and then made some birdies on some par-5s, and it all helped.
Q. With this being a new venue for this championship, how does the challenge compare to this venue to the prior home at Mission Hills?
MARINA ALEX: Yeah, they're completely different golf courses. Mission Hills is a special place. This is a really tough challenging place, as well, so I just think you kind of need to put that aside and refocus on a new course.
I actually don't mind not having seen venues before. I think it's a really level playing field for everyone. No one really has all that much of an advantage or years and years of experience playing a course and being familiar with it and maybe they like certain places over others, so I think it really puts everyone on the same ground, and I enjoy that.
Q. You got out of here early ahead of what might be some questionable weather this afternoon. What are you going to do the rest of the day?
MARINA ALEX: Maybe just a little bit of practice just to key in on the things I've been working on and what feels good and then kind of relax and wait for my housemates to finish in the afternoon round.
