Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Jennifer Chang, USC alum. 6-under 65 today; bogey-free. Had six birdies on the card. Just take us through that stretch of 4 through 7. What was going through your mind, four birdies in a row?

JENNIFER CHANG: Yeah, I just put myself in a good position on the green and converted all the putts. Like today my putting was just super solid. Wasn't hitting it great, but I was missing it in the right spots.

So overall super happy with the round.

Q. Was there any one of those putts in that stretch of four holes that really stood out?

JENNIFER CHANG: I don't know. Like I didn't think much about it. I think it just kept happening. I didn't make a lot of long putts. I just put it inside 15 feet and converted most of them, yeah.

Q. So you're a person that's played out here before in the collegiate event here with USC. How familiar are these conditions?

JENNIFER CHANG: Yeah, it's a home course. We've always had a tournament every year. I mean, I never really played that well during that time, but I think just having experience out here does help.

Q. How much did that experience help today? I know there is some sidehill lies, kikuyu grass that can grab a club and turn it over.

JENNIFER CHANG: Exactly.

Q. What kind of experience really helped you today?

JENNIFER CHANG: Yeah, just where to miss it and knowing like how fast certain putts are on the greens.

I mean, the contours of these greens, there is a lot of severe slopes that you don't see. Just having experience putting off this green, just being familiar with it, is a pretty big advantage.

Q. Looks like you scrambled pretty well today. Nice par save on 18. Did you make a lot of par saves today?

JENNIFER CHANG: Yeah, I had a few. Like I had one on 17, 18; hit it long on 11 and got up and down there, too.

So just really made all the putts I had to.

Q. How good does it feel to have that local hometown support considering you're a former Trojan?

JENNIFER CHANG: Yeah, it's so nice. A lot of familiar faces. My former head coach is out here, Andrea Gaston. So it's nice to see everyone. Just feels like home.

Q. And then finally, just heading into the rest of the week, what kind of confidence does that round give you going into the next three days?

JENNIFER CHANG: Yeah, you know, I'm just going to keep my head down. Obviously there is still a lot of golf left. Just keeping the same routine that I've had and hoping it pays off.
