Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Xiyu Lin. What was working so well on day two and what do you think you carried over after your sensational round yesterday?

XIYU LIN: Well, it's a little different story. I think today all I'm doing is trying to catch 6. I mean, it's nice to play with her obviously. Like we definitely I guess help each other out a little bit, staying aggressive.

And today I feel like I hit it even better than yesterday. For the putts it just little lip out here and there, so I actually roll like tons of good putts.

It's also nice to make another long one at the last hole. So I think overall, I mean... (audio cut out.)

Q. Bogey bogey-free is always a satisfying day. What was that last hole like for you, to get that other birdie?

XIYU LIN: Well, the last hole is playing a little long, and, I mean, I know I need to hit a good drive. That's very important to begin with.

So I hit a really good one and also a second shot. I was staying a little bit -- like trying to just go for the middle of the green and then it did, so when I was on there and I was thinking of like my putting whole day today, I'm like, come on. Like I had the momentum going last round, so might as well try to do another one.

It's great. Like it went in.

Q. Was it a sense of relief? I know you had four birdies in total. Was it a relief to keep the score, the momentum going that you had yesterday?

XIYU LIN: Yeah, for sure. I mean, the golf tournament doesn't finish in one day, so I kind of told myself I have to keep going today.

This course, like everybody has a chance and it is what it is. Like perfect example today, like 6, she just had a fabulous day and shoot 9-under.

I just think this course, there is challenging holes, but also there is lots of opportunity out there. You just have to look forward and keep going.

Q. Janet, you hit a lot of good putts that did not go in. Is that frustrating, or do you just say, I'm still under par and still in there thing even though I've had this?

XIYU LIN: Obviously it's easier to accept that when you're starting off 8-under of the day. Yeah, I get a little annoyed some points. I keep telling myself there is nothing wrong with the putt, the pace, everything was right. It's burning the edges.

So I just need to be patient. I think it's a really good lesson I learned today overall.

Q. The birdie putt on 9 that went completely around the hole, was that sort of emblematic of the day?

XIYU LIN: Yeah, similar. I think it's funny, like even I only not having like long birdie putts, but I had lots of double breakers. The hole is always different than what my line is, so it's not easy.

But I think I'm very proud that all day I stay aggressive, like I didn't hold back. So, yeah, I think I got rewarded last hole.

Q. One more from me. Just looking ahead to the weekend, seeing your name towards the top of the leaderboard, we talked about, as you said, the golf tournament isn't won in one day, but what does it mean to you to see your name up there again in contention heading into the weekend?

XIYU LIN: I mean, it's easier to be only one behind, as of right now, than couple behind.

I set a goal that I wanted to have a little breakthrough this year, so I think the more times I got to knock on the door the better.

Q. Love that. Thank you, Janet.

XIYU LIN: Thank you.
