Q. What a finish. Tell me about that last stretch of golf, and what lit that fire?
HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, I felt like I hit it okay on the front nine. I just didn't hit it close enough. There was a couple of tricky pins to actually be able to go for. Unfortunately I made a bogey on 8 and then also a double on 11. I made a solid par on 12, and my caddie said, there's a few gettable holes, let's just hang in there.
Yeah, obviously birdied the par-5, and I was like, okay, that's good, and then birdied the next and birdied the next. It was nice to finish, especially with 17 and 18 with two birdies. I don't think it will quite get me into the last group but at least second to last group, so still in the competition.
Q. Tell me about the last two holes, arguably two of the harder holes on the golf course. That's got to give you some serious momentum.
HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, I think perhaps had I finished with a double say, I would have had a filthy taste in my mouth obviously. To finish with five birdies in the last six, I'm very proud of myself.
Q. Has that happened recently for you? You've had some of those stretches but maybe not right there at the end.
HANNAH GREEN: No, definitely not. Probably not with such a hard stretch of golf, either. Honestly, the shot on 17, I was like, just hit the fairway and hit the green and you'll have somewhat of a putt, and it got a little closer than I thought. I left myself in perfect position, and then the last hole was kind of swirly, so I wasn't really sure what club to hit, and I just hit it hard, and it stopped quickly. I'm really glad that that putt went in because it just gives positive vibes for tomorrow.
Q. You're going to likely be in the penultimate group. What did you learn here last year? I know Nasa came out and world beat, but you played some solid golf last year in the same position. What did you learn from last year that you'll take to this year?
HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, I think even though Nasa was still out of reach, there was still a lot of golf to be played, there was still a lot of people trying to fight for that second spot. Even today being 3-over par through 11 holes and shooting under par, you've just got to hang in there. It's not easy out here. The greens are bouncy and then also in the afternoon getting a little bumpy. They're actually probably the best they have been the five years that we've been here, but you've just got to stay in it. That's how you win golf tournaments.
Q. What would it mean? I know this one you've got to want to win I'd imagine.
HANNAH GREEN: Definitely. I came tied third a couple years ago, runner up last year, so this is the one that I've obviously had results in, and I've put myself in a good position today. To hold a trophy would be amazing because it has been a while since I've hoisted an LPGA trophy, and the two that I did win were probably the two biggest that we have on Tour, and the new one looks really big, too, so I'd like to get my own of one of those. I'll try and do my best tomorrow.
Q. You pulled off a bit of a comeback on the back nine today. How do you tell yourself when you get off to a bit of a slow start to stay in it on the back nine.
HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, I thought the front was actually quite difficult. It was a little bit of a different wind direction, but it was also gusty, so picking the right moments for the club that you decide to hit was quite difficult. I mean, I made a bad error on 11, made double, so I knew there was some holes coming in that I could possibly make some birdies, but to birdie 17 and 18 was obviously a really great finish, and I'm really excited for tomorrow.
Q. You've played well here on this golf course in the past. Is that experience really helping you out there?
HANNAH GREEN: I think so. I got to play in the last group last year with Nasa, and I was trying to chase her all day but she had too much of a lead. I think it helps knowing what the course will be like late in the afternoon. The greens will get a little bit slower, a little bit bumpier. Hopefully that experience from the last couple years helps me to try and get out on top tomorrow.
Q. With that being said, you're going to be chasing again tomorrow. Do you have anything in mind?
HANNAH GREEN: I think I'm going to continue to do what I've done the last few days, I think just hoping that I can hit a couple close early and have that momentum coming into the back nine because that's where the difficult holes come in.
