Q. All right, here with Grace Kim after her first round at the JM Eagle LA Championship.
Bogey-free 7-under. What went so well for you today?
GRACE KIM: I think if I was to compare my round today compared to last week, I really focused on just not having too much in my mind. I think I overthought a lot of things through my first and second round last week and struggled a little bit mentally.
So just that self-belief, not forcing anything, and trusting that my muscle memory of a golf swing would work. Yeah, I guess that kind of worked out well.
Q. Lots of birdies on the card for you today. What were some of the biggest moments out there for you you during the round?
GRACE KIM: Well, I chunked my tee shot on the last hole 20 meters short and then I chipped it in it, so I think that's pretty cool, in front of everyone, which is nice.
I think I hit a lot of fairways, maybe missed one or two fairways, and then the shots I hit close, there were probably a handful so a lot of good birdie opportunities today.
Q. Were you in the bunker here or...
GRACE KIM: No. So I guess I laid up left of the bunker, so I had a clear shot. Yeah, again it's not the easiest pin position today.
Q. I know you're good friends with Minjee, Hannah, and they've both won before. Did you play any practice rounds with them this week or chatted to them about this course or their wins here at all?
GRACE KIM: I actually did play with the defending champion on Tuesday, so I played with Hannah Green on Tuesday. Played nine holes. I just kept like giving it to her, DC, DC.
So I think she enjoys embracing that pressure. We'll see which Aussie comes out top.
Q. Last question: What are you looking to do to carry the momentum into tomorrow?
GRACE KIM: Again, I think just having a clear mindset, not really focusing too much on result. Obviously I had a good day today, but it's a fresh day tomorrow and the weekend.
So hopefully just another nice, easy round tomorrow. Not too hard on myself. Just accept mistakes if they do come and just take the birdies as they come.
