Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Aditi Ashok after her first round here at the JM Eagle LA Championship. Just tell me a little bit about the round today. Bogey-free; six birdies. What was working so well for you today?

ADITI ASHOK: I think the front nine I putted pretty good. Made whatever few chances I had. Yeah, the hot start helped a little bit.

And then I feel like in the middle I had a few birdie chances, which didn't really materialize, and especially didn't really make use of the first three par-5s.

I hit two on on the last one and made two putt for birdie. Apart from that, couldn't really birdie the par-5s.

Yeah, good round when I hit it close. Made some putts, but I feel like I missed four, five good chances, too.

Q. Going out and seeing a number like 9-under, 6-unefr, 7-under, out there, did you see that before heading out today?

ADITI ASHOK: No, actually I didn't watch any of the scores until I got on the golf course. I think after my third birdie there was a leaderboard, so I just made three birdies in a row and I thought, I'll take a peek.

Then I saw 9-under and obviously didn't feel as good about my three birdies.

But I realized obviously there is a low one out there. I tried to tell myself, you just made three, but you can keep being aggressive and make some more.

Q. Tell me about that little streak of birdies. How did you get that going?

ADITI ASHOK: Yeah, I hit one pretty close to like, I want to say three, four feet, so that was easy knock-in.

One of them was like a 25-footer which was kind of a bonus. Few of them were good iron shots, birdies, and then one was a long one that I drained on 6. I think 6. Yeah.

So yeah, it was good. I was just hitting it close all day so I had a lot of chances and then I think the back nine I missed a few. Putter didn't stay as hot as the front.

Q. I know you've played well in Los Angeles before. Couple years ago I know you finished T2 in this event. Is there anything about this course that reminds you of Wilshire or any of the LA courses?

ADITI ASHOK: Well, no, this course feels so much different from Wilshire. The greens aren't poa and the course is kind of hilly; feels a bit different.

Yeah, I just enjoy playing in LA. It's a bit cold right now, but usually the weather is similar to back home where I live. Yeah, always fun playing in California.
