Q. Okay, here with Lauren Coughlin after her second round at the El Caballero. Another solid round you put together. How was maybe today and yesterday different or the same?
LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, the greens started to get kind of bouncy there. You had to really make sure if you were hitting into more of an up slope, if you're hitting on a downslope, you could expect it to take some big hops.
Other than, the ball is still not going all that far at times. It got windy where I didn't really get any wind in the morning yesterday. Other than that, played about the same.
Really good and enjoyed it.
Q. How important is taking advantage of the par-5s out here?
LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, they're huge. Couple of them obviously are pretty reachable, 7 and then 16.
But then the other two, it's kind of nice, because if you can use the -- you can use the slopes a lot and they have some funnely type pins. If you miss or get too much spin you can get down into some really bad spots.
It's kind of like how the greens are. There are like little pockets, and at times you can use backstops to help the ball get closer to the hole.
Yeah, definitely needed -- I mean, like I said, with two of them being reachable you really need to take advantage.
Q. Talk me through the eagle.
LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, I hit driver, not a great driver; had 207 front. Hit 4-hybrid knowing it might get up there. If not, better chip was to be just short of the green.
It almost got up on the green but just short. Yeah, hit a little bump and run. Just kind of trickled in at the last second.
Q. Are you surprised about how many players have gone so low over the first couple days?
LAUREN COUGHLIN: No, I think when thinking about the golf course, I thought like just my first time seeing it this week, but I figured if you could hit the ball pretty well I thought you could make some birdies.
I definitely saw like if you get in the wrong spot it can be really difficult. With all the backstops on the greens you can use the slopes to it help get the ball really close on a lot of holes.
I kind of figured it would be a big disparity. There would be people who would go really low and some people make some big numbers.
Q. You thoughts on attacking the weekend and the forecast for some sun and warmer temperatures?
LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, excited for some sun to not be -- my body is getting older. I'm one the older people out her at 32. The cold weather isn't the most fun. Starting to feel my age a little bit.
Not as -- can't rock up ten minutes before my tee time like I used to in my early 20s. So that will be nice to have -- be later in the day and hopefully have a little bit of sun to kind of warm up a little bit.
Between this and Vegas was really cold in the morning, too, so I'm ready for some heat.
Q. Coming in did you feel like you were getting -- your game was at a spot where you could play well this week?
LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, definitely. I played really well at the Match Play, and I feel like I was starting to putt really well that week, which has kind of been -- if I'm putting well probably going to play pretty well. Long game and irons and driving is kind of always there. When I'm making putts I'm going to play pretty good golf.
There was some flashes at Vegas. Like the first couple days, in the pool play I started to putt really, really well. I think just fatigue and I kind of lost my feel a little bit there towards the end.
But there was flashes of a lot of really good golf. I think more mentally that week I just fought until the very end, and that's what I did so well that week.
Now it's nice -- you know, the fairways are really tight at Shadow Creek, and so I kind of didn't -- I don't think -- I wasn't hitting it as bad as it was feeling just because of how tight grass was.
I have another set of irons for really firm, tight that I didn't have with me. Next year I am definitely going to have them. They kind of help my club dig just a little bit more, so it kind of felt like I was hitting everything a groove low.
I just wasn't -- but my swing felt fine.
So this stuff is much nicer. Ball sits up a little bit, so I'm starting to hit it in the center of the club face, which is nice.
