Q. All right, here with Nelly Korda after her third round here at El Caballero. You're in the chase again. I know that's your favorite place to be. Just tell me about the round today and what was working so well for you.
NELLY KORDA: Yeah, kind of on and off. Started with a birdie and then went bogey, birdie, bogey.
Made a few pars in the middle but got things going on the back nine, and then ended with a nice three-putt.
Q. It's been for lack of a better word, an unusual three rounds for you in that you're three rounds in the mid-60s and had some hiccups along the way each day. How do you look at the first three rounds going into tomorrow?
NELLY KORDA: Just try to take it a shot at a time. It's a fresh, new day. Whatever happened the other day, that's behind me. You can't really do anything about it, so why contemplate about it? Just go and to make birdies and create opportunities.
Q. You talked about your game plan about playing in events before majors this year. With the way you're playing, I guess how beneficial is this tournament going to be for you going into the Chevron next week?
NELLY KORDA: Well, we'll see next week. I don't know. Golf is all about gaining confidence and getting more reps under your belt, so that's what I'm doing. I mean, when it comes to creating opportunities and I think gaining a little bit of confidence, that's exactly what I'm doing here this week.
But at the end of the day I'm very focused on the event I'm playing in and next week is very far, far, far away for me right now.
Just going to focus on trying to get everything kind of dialed in for tomorrow and give it my best shot.
Q. What was your goal going into this round?
NELLY KORDA: Just trying to climb the leaderboard. Trying to be consistent, and at the end of the day give myself the best opportunity going into tomorrow, the final day.
Q. You did that.
NELLY KORDA: Uh-huh.
Q. 12th yesterday and you come in and move up to tie in second. Talk about some of the adjustments that you did have to make in between the rounds from yesterday to today.
NELLY KORDA: Nothing really. I mean, every day is different, pin locations are different, golf course plays different, so you're in different positions.
You just try to adapt. Today was a little sunnier so the weather was a little different. Ball was flying maybe a little further, too. So just always trying to adapt at what you have at hand.
Q. Last question: You kind of took it with addressing the weather. You played the Sweet 16 with a nice drive in the fairway and then the chip. Can you go over that hole, the 16th, that process.
NELLY KORDA: Yeah, I hit really good drive and had a 9-iron in hand, a pretty 98 percenter, and just took an aggressive route. When I play my best I'm a very aggressive player.
I was just feeling really good with my irons and I took a straight line at the pin.
Q. I'm sure this happens often, but what's it like -- I'm sure it doesn't get old little girls, couple of sisters that had everything from the hairstyle, Goldman Sachs, the visor, the everything. I mean, when you see that, I don't know, I guess your thoughts?
NELLY KORDA: Yeah, it's so nice. No matter what kind of day you're having, when you see something like that it makes it so much better. They take time out of their day to come out and support us, and the least we can do is sign some autographs after, acknowledge that they say to us that we're the reasons they picked up the game of golf.
To me, that's one of the reasons why I love this so much, is seeing and hearing that. Hopefully I watch them on TV one day and they lead the game onto being better and greater than we did.
Q. At the start of the week when you looked at your practice rounds, did you feel like the back nine was going to be the nine that maybe you could score on a little more than the front nine? Seems like that's been the case for most of the players this week.
NELLY KORDA: No. I mean, it just depends how you're hitting it off the tee. You can do that on the front nine as well.
Just like you have to cut corners more on this golf course and be very precise off the tee. If you are precise and hit the fairway, then you have a pretty good chance with a good scoring club.
So I think from then on the greens are pretty receptive in a sense that you can be aggressive, so if you do hit a good tee ball, I think you have a good chance at making a birdie.
Yeah.
Q. Wasn't anything that jumped out?
NELLY KORDA: No, not at all.
