Quick Quotes

LUCY LI: (in progress)... it was nice to have an eagle on the 8th hole. I wasn't sure if it went in or not, so that was a nice bonus at the end of the round.

Q. How long was the putt, eagle putt?

LUCY LI: It was a wedge shot. It went in.

Q. Oh, just chipping?

LUCY LI: Just a regular wedge shot, yeah.

Q. Okay.

LUCY LI: Like a full shot.

Q. Okay. Any birdies you want to share?

LUCY LI: Yeah, the par-5s, I just hit good wedge shots today and had good distance control.

Q. There is your first tournament back since DriveOn, correct?

LUCY LI: No. I played in Thailand and Saudi.

Q. How are you feeling?

LUCY LI: I'm doing good. This is my fourth week being in international, so I'm excited to go back. It's been really nice to travel.

Q. Anything in particular you've been working on in your game? This was a really solid round today.

LUCY LI: I mean, not really. I was here for a week last week and I could only use the practice facility, so just doing homework and relaxing.

Q. Anything you noticed in particular when you were out here last week that maybe gave you an advantage?

LUCY LI: The greens were really slow and now they're not, so not really. (Laughter.)

Q. But you got the extra practice, which is very nice.

LUCY LI: Yeah, it was nice to relax, yeah.

Q. And so how far was that eagle that you made?

LUCY LI: It was 86 yards.

Q. And then you didn't see it go in?

LUCY LI: I saw it go in but the pin was at the very back of the green and there was a slope right after it, so I didn't want to celebrate early and it was just over the green and I was screwed.

So it was like, everyone else just like stood there and I was like, well, that's really helpful.

Q. So everyone else reacted?

LUCY LI: No. They all just stood there.

Q. So when you walked up you noticed it went in?

LUCY LI: Well, I had to go look in the hole and it was in. It was a delayed reaction. It was so delayed I didn't really have one.

Q. Just wondering, your parents are from Tongcheng, so now you are in China, so maybe you came to your hometown?

LUCY LI: Yeah, yeah, I've been to Tongcheng. I really love the food there, so I'm always very excited to be in China because the food is much better than it is in the US. So that's the main thing, yes.

Q. So you still spicy food?

LUCY LI: I love spicy food.
