Q. Here with Sarah Schmelzel after her final round here at the Blue Bay LPGA. Another Top 10, hopefully top 5 finish for you here think course. What worked for you this week?
SARAH SCHMELZEL: Obviously really good vibes coming into it from last year. Knew I could play well on this golf course which always helps.
You know, I hadn't played my best over in Asia, so I had had spurts of some good stuff going on the last two weeks over here, and I was just hoping that it could come together this week.
I made a lot more putts this week than I did the last couple weeks over here, and, yeah, it was just nice to play again at a course that I've played well at before and just take that confidence.
Q. What is it about this course that brings out some of your strengths or that you can navigate so well?
SARAH SCHMELZEL: I think you have to grind out here. You have to think about everything, because hitting the green sometimes might not be best-case scenario. You know, might be better if you just miss the green two paces off the right and you're avoiding a huge slope basically.
So like you just constantly got to keep your brain on. I love that you have to grind for pars when you don't hit a great shot. Love playing in the wind.
Just kind of that grinder mentality I think really fits me out here.
Q. And then a couple events here into the 2025 season, how does the game feel? What are you still looking to improve on?
SARAH SCHMELZEL: Yeah, good. I started off Bradenton pretty well the first couple days and thought I got all the rust off, and came over here and that wasn't necessarily the case.
So it's nice to get a better result this week. I obviously feel like I got the reps in now here, and so when I'm going back to the States and we really ramp up, I feel like I've got a good idea what I need to work on, what I need to keep sharp, and what's going well.
Really successful trip over here so far.
Q. What do you hope to take away from this week in terms of confidence? Anything in your game as we head to our next event, which is Ford in your home state?
SARAH SCHMELZEL: Yeah, to play my home state is like sixth major, so it's nice to just have a good result before that. You know, just take the positives of being able to grind it out. You know, I wasn't in the same position last year after two days, after three days. You know, being at the top of the leaderboard or close to it.
So I'm glad that I could just make some birdies and kind of climb my way up this year instead for a good finish. So just take that into the next few weeks.
