Q. To go for it on 18 or not; ended up laying up. Why the decision?
LEXI THOMPSON: Yeah, I had 220 front and like 210 to carries the hazard there, and off a left-to-right lie. Not ideal for a 2-iron off that lie. I'm like, you know what? I worked extremely hard throughout that round to get it back to where I was at that moment, so I was like, I'll lay it up.
Q. Speaking of that, got off to a challenging start; you turned it around. What was the key to getting it back?
LEXI THOMPSON: Yeah, it was a roller coaster of a day, that's for sure. Wasn't the start I imagined, but I tried to stay patient. Definitely got a little down out there. Just tried to say positive with my caddie, Mark, out there. Feel like there could be birdies made as long as I hit the fairway. Able to get a few eagles as well.
Q. A little time off and then a big week, Solheim Cup. What do you do to get ready and prepare?
LEXI THOMPSON: Take time off, that's for sure. And then I have a lot of things that I need to work on for those four, five days at home. I plan on doing that. I have a wedding to go to. I'll get there and practice up with my teammates.
