Saturday Afternoon Four-balls

JOHN DEVER: Welcome back to the 43rd Ryder Cup.

Q. Sergio, the satisfaction of getting that win today, considering the fight-back from Brooks and Jordan and also the way it seemed the crowd was perhaps getting on European nerves here and there.

SERGIO GARCIA: No, I mean, the crowds were just like they have been all week, so it wasn't any different. But yeah, obviously very proud to win another match for our team. And more than anything, so proud to have a partner like this one (chuckling).

I mean, this afternoon he was unbelievable. I was No. 1 spectator watching a great guy do great thing after great thing after great thing. It was awesome to be a part of. I was so happy. I was just trying to keep him up and make sure he kept heading in the right direction. You know, it was great to see.

But we have a big task tomorrow, and hopefully let's see if we can make history.

Q. Did you put your putter in an ice bucket, the way it's heated up the first two days? How would you describe your play yesterday and today?

JON RAHM: I mean, believe it or not, this hasn't been my best week tee-to-green, but it's obviously one of my best weeks on the greens. I think my putt on 10, that 10-footer I had on 10 was pretty much the first one I missed this week so far.

I've been making every putt that I need to, and then some. When you do things like that, it gives you a lot of confidence, right. It gets to a point where I started freeing myself up a little bit and now just knowing that, you know, just feeling good, so putting it on the green, I'll have a good chance.

At the same time it was really windy this afternoon, so it was hard to hit them close. When you're playing Brooks and Jordan, you can't expect too many mistakes. You know you're going to have to do something special.

And played with Jordan enough and seen him basically make a lot more putts like that, so you know, to kind of do it back to him for once at least, it actually felt really good.

Q. 10-6 has been done a couple times but never before 11-5. What gives you confidence that a comeback can happen tomorrow?

JON RAHM: You know, from what I hear, the team is playing good. Just putts not dropping in and a couple things here and there that just could happen that haven't happened.

I'd like to believe that things even out. So tomorrow, if we get off to a good start, kind of like what happened in 2012, and things start going our way, you never know. You never know.

Golf is a very complicated and ironic and sarcastic game sometimes, and teams can be capable of some great things, like the U.S. has done so far the last two days. It could be our chance, and I know everybody on the team is going to give it their all and give that a run.

Q. Your captain this week has saluted you as being a great leader on this team. I saw you with your arm around Rory trying to pick him up. What do you say to him and how do you get him charged up for tomorrow?

SERGIO GARCIA: I told him the absolute truth. I told him that not only me but the whole team is proud of him no matter if he goes 5-0 or 0-5; that we love him and that we are always proud of the effort that he makes and the heart that he puts into his golf and into the team. It's as simple as that.

Obviously it's not the week he was hoping for, without a doubt, not the week we were hoping for, for all of us, at least till now or until now. But we are still very proud of every single one of our teammates.
