Quick Quotes

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Played solid golf again today. Hit it really nice. Seems like the story the last couple days, putts just weren't falling.

I made a few today, but overall I probably lost a few strokes on the greens, which is frustrating. For a weekend where I really struggled with the putter, to give myself still a chance to win was nice.

We'll see what happens going forward. There's a lot of talented guys up there on the board. I've got to stick around for a few minutes but probably not too long.

Q. The ace on No. 8?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, the ace. Just a three-quarter 7-iron. Pretty much the exact same shot I hit there yesterday. Tee box was a little further up, and there was a little bit more wind in our face, so it kind of set up nicely.

Yeah, it landed and went in. That was definitely a lot of fun.

Q. Who gives a better post-ace hug, your sister or Ted?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I'm not going to answer that (laughter).

Q. When was your last ace either competitively or just away from the tournament action?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I had one at the Par 3 Contest this year at the Masters, which that's up for debate whether or not people count those. Masters Par 3, I'm going to count it for myself. I feel like that's fair at Augusta.

Before that, maybe the U.S. Am. I had one at a U.S. Am. I think that's the last one I remember. It had been a few years.

Q. I guess you and Paul know each other from back in Dallas, Royal Oaks. Can you describe your friendship with him and how long you've known him?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I've known Paul for a long time. Paul has always been a guy that was a step ahead of me. Paul is seven or eight years older than I am. I grew up watching him at Royal Oaks. He played high school golf, and he was a really good high school golfer, so I looked up to him then.

Then he went off and played college golf. Then turned pro and won numerous times on the Korn Ferry Tour and made it out here. Paul has always been a guy I looked up to growing up. He was a guy I watched playing all the time.

I'm sure I bugged him a lot when I was a kid. If he was 16 and I was 8, I'm sure I was pretty annoying at the time. He let me pal around with him a little bit. We have a good group of guys we play with at Royal Oaks still today.

It was definitely a lot of fun for us both out there. Paul played some nice golf today. It was good having some good vibes out there for both of us.

Q. Did you feel the greens were more firm today than yesterday at all?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I think they were firmer. I appreciate how they got much more consistent over the weekend. On Friday when we played, I was very frustrated with some soft spots and some spots that were really firm.

It was nice as the weekend went on everything was just really firm.
