Q. Patrick, great start today with birdies on 1 and 2. End up shooting 5-under. Had a good look at 17; did make the one at 18; 15 greens in regulation. You thoughts on the round.
PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, it was 4-under today. Played well. Played really solid. You know, I let a few get away on the back nine. Could have played better on the back nine.
I'm still -- leads is right there in sight, so I'm playing well and I'll get some rest and come at it this weekend.
Q. One of the notes going into the week was the fact that your first three times here didn't have a lot of great success. The last three times and then this week you were 31-under your last three tournaments here, and obviously 6-under now; now 37-under the last three plus tournaments. What changed? More maturity on the golf course?
PATRICK CANTLAY: I don't know if anything changed. You know how golf is. There are tournaments where you never know what's happening each year. At this point I can't even remember.
I do like the golf course. I feel like it suits my game really well and rewards driving the ball in the fairway and hitting smart iron shots.
Hole locations are in some very tricky spots, really hiding them from us, so go out tomorrow and try and get off to a good start, and then it's off to the races.
Q. What are you most happy about right now with your game?
PATRICK CANTLAY: I feel like my putting has been getting better and I've been holing a few more putts. I think when you can get hot with the putter as well as I hit it most of the time, that's when I have chances to win.
Just got to stay patient and wait for them to go in. When I they do, look out.
