Q. Good playing, Patrick. Looked like you were kind of an unstoppable force at the end of last season winning FedExCup, and it looks like you're not that far of from that player. Are you about in the same place you were then?
PATRICK CANTLAY: I feel like I played a lot of good golf this year. Been right there in a lot of tournaments. Still right here in this tournament, and looking forward to the weekend.
I enjoy the challenge, and that's all you can do in golf, is give yourself as many chances as you possibly can.
Q. Are you a completely different player than the guy who shot 62 or whatever it was here as an as amateur?
PATRICK CANTLAY: Well, it's about 10 years ago or longer, 11.
Q. You have a lot more weight on now.
PATRICK CANTLAY: I am a lot different. I think most people change in 10, 11 years.
Q. Going back to the first answer, sometimes performance doesn't equal results out here. Do you feel like your performance has equaled your results or are you playing better than you got out of it?
PATRICK CANTLAY: I think I played better than just the one win this year. Had a couple close calls. You know, that's just golf. I closed them all out towards the end of last year, and not every break, not every putt is going to go your way.
So you just got to keep forging ahead and give yourself as many opportunities as you can.
Q. It has been 11 years. How have you changed personally, professionally? How has your game changed as the UCLA kid that came here in 2011?
PATRICK CANTLAY: It was only my second tour event and I'm on quite a few more than that. I've won a lot of tournaments since then.
So I think I'm just a lot more comfortable and confident that I don't have to do anything special or outside myself to play really good golf.
This week is no different. I just have to stick to my game plan and keep hitting smart shots.
Q. If I could follow up, if it I had told you this is where you're going to be professionally after you shot that 60, would you be happy, satisfied? What would the reaction have been?
PATRICK CANTLAY: I'm not sure. I would've been surprised at my three-year break. I didn't see that coming. Life is like that a lot. You're never sure what's around the corner, all you can do is do your every single day.
I'm proud of myself for being in the spot that I am today and I'm content with how I played.
Q. What are some of the memories of that round of 60 that stuck with you?
PATRICK CANTLAY: I remember making a lot of putts that day. I remember the second 18 of that day, so finishing not quite in the dark but pretty close.
You know, it's just a good memory that I draw on almost every time I come back to this tournament.
Q. Having had success at this course, does that help you when you come into a round like this, knowing what you can do out here?
PATRICK CANTLAY: I am sure it does. A lot of players, including myself, seem to play well at the same tracks year after year. This is one of my favorites on tour.
Q. You have a number in mind that it's going to take for the weekend to be holding the trophy?
PATRICK CANTLAY: Not sure. I think historically high teens is usually pretty good around here. I think the course will firm up a little bit.
You know, I think if no one runs away -- even when DJ ran away that year he was high teens maybe, top end of that. You get into the teens here you got a chance.
