Q. Nice round today.
TREY MULLINAX: Thank you.
Q. Battled to make the cut. How are you feeling to be playing on the weekend?
TREY MULLINAX: Feels great. Haven't played on the weekend on the PGA TOUR in a year, so feels really will good honestly. I love what I do. Battling this off-season with -- or this year for me after surgery, it was tough. It was hard.
Like I said, I love what I do and I was anxious to get back. But I did the right thing by waiting and I feel really good. To be able to play the weekend close to home and have some friends and family watch is a lot of fun.
Q. Surgery was on the hip?
TREY MULLINAX: Right hip, yeah, labrum surgery.
Q. What's that journey been like to get healthy again?
TREY MULLINAX: It was longer than anticipated. Had a lot of the damage in that right hip. So it was labrum, but they had to clean up a lot of things, bring some ligaments down from my hip down there to anchor them in.
Had bone spurs removed. So it was a lot of work done to the hip, so I just wanted to take my time. I've rushed injuries before and I didn't want to do it again.
Thankfully out here we have the system when you're on a major medical you can play a couple events on the Korn Ferry to see how you feel. I used those starts and felt pretty good, so I was ready to get back and see how it felt.
Q. What confidence do you gain from having a round like this?
TREY MULLINAX: I think it's just you're seeing the stuff that you worked on. It's easy at home when I'm working with my coach or playing with friends and you're making putts.
It's different out here. You're under the pressure. It's your job. It's what you love to do.
So it's good being at home and doing those things. I, and was doing it great at home but having a hard time putting out here. So today to see some of that work come to fruition is nice.
Q. What do you take away more, results based or working on stuff at home and it translates here in competition?
TREY MULLINAX: I think you always want to see some results. I been working really hard with my coach, Mark Blackburn, and getting my strength back in my hip at my buddy's place, at Tinsley Performance, and been working really hard on that stuff.
You never know until you challenge it, put it out here. Today I did my job well and I'm pumped about that.
Q. This tournament tends to be a place where you play well. What is it about the course, the people, being around here?
TREY MULLINAX: Yeah, it just reminds me of home. Bermuda rough, bermuda greens. It's what I grew up on. I love coming here. It's such a fun event. This is the first start they ever gave me on TOUR. Steve does a phenomenal job and I love this tournament.
