Q. Keith, you hit the green in regulation on 18. Walk us through those two putts.
KEITH MITCHELL: Yeah, the first putt actually looked good off the face. Right when it missed I kind of turned my head and didn't watch the read on the way by, so when I got or there I assumed it was breaking. Guess it broke left. It was going to break right back up the hill.
I played it left edge, left center, and it and just didn't go in. I didn't have my best on the back nine. I think 18 was the only fairway I hit. I didn't really deserve to -- don't really deserve anything out here. Just lucky to be on 0. I didn't have my best stuff at the end. I hate that I finished with three putt. Felt like I grinded all the way to the end and gave the first putt a really good chance.
Q. We often learn a lot more in defeat than wins. You said you learned last from Valspar this year. What do you hope are the positives you can take away from this event and hopefully become a better player?
KEITH MITCHELL: Really I've putted great all week except 18. I feel like my driver is my strength, ball striking has been my strength, and it was not on the back nine. I was really leaning heavy on that, so the fact that I could lean heavy it for 71 holes, I feel confident about that. Maybe just don't turn my head the next time.
Q. Just five minutes from 18, what emotions are you feelings right now.
KEITH MITCHELL: A little disappointment, especially 18. I hate that it ended that way. The way I played on the back nine probably wasn't -- definitely wasn't my best. Only hit one fairway which was 18.
I was just grinding to stay in it. The fact that I had a putt to win, the way I played on the back is pretty awesome. Unfortunately, I hit it a little too hard and thought it was going to break a little right at the end and it didn't.
Long story short, glad I fought 71 and a half holes.
Q. Did you know the standings, that Kevin had birdied the final one?
KEITH MITCHELL: When I was walking up the green. So I had already hit my second shot. I heard a roar on 18 when we were on 17. There was obviously two guys in a group so didn't know who it was.
Didn't change anything on my second shot. I was aiming the same place no matter what, give myself the best look at birdie. Pushed it a little bit, so obviously had a longer putt than I thought to technically win.
Gave it a good run.
Q. What was it like to be in the final pair and in contention again?
KEITH MITCHELL: Awesome. So much fun. I would do it every week if I was good enough to. I wish I was there more. Hopefully this week can be a steppingstone to keep getting there and just eventually try to get another trophy.
Q. While you were out playing, Postman join the broadcast, said some nice things about you. He shared at one point ya'll lived together with Brad. How nice is it to have these friendships back at Sea Island, out here on the road rooting for you?
KEITH MITCHELL: It means a lot. Got a lot of good buddies down there. We've really tried to root each other on. Patton won last week. I think it had been seven years.
It's just really cool that Brad being out there with me, honestly, there is nothing better than family and friends, and we got it.
