Q. You made the turn at 1-under and then posted a 29 on the back. How were you able to get going so hot on the last nine holes?
JASON DAY: Yeah, I don't know. I just started -- actually I've hit the ball pretty well the whole week. Just round 2 got me, and I didn't particularly putt that great on round 2.
Then I just started off with a birdie on 10 and then I knew that with the pin locations coming in, if I could just get it on the fairway, and I drove the ball really nicely this week, I could get some wedges in my hands, and then from there, just one thing after another.
I think I was just so far out of it that you're just not even really worrying. You're just trying to keep pushing up the leaderboard.
Yeah, obviously it's a little disappointing sitting here and looking at my round on round 2. It could have been obviously a lot better. But it's been a good step in the right direction this week. I know that I've got a week off next week, and I'm into CJ, which is nice. I'm looking forward to trying to keep that momentum rolling.
Q. How do you spend the week off and try to keep it rolling into CJ?
JASON DAY: Yeah, even though I putted -- I holed a lot of good putts today, I'm still not happy with the rhythm and tempo of my actual stroke. Just what I see the story before the shot, what I see and then when I'm standing over it, there's just too much chatter. There's just too many distractions there. I'm just going to try and smooth that out a little bit, and then hopefully I start seeing the ball go in the hole a little bit easier and then that kind of matches my actual stroke.
Not much swing-wise, I'm just going to try and keep the same swing thoughts and all that stuff. Just try and work on it a little bit, but overall it's pretty good right now.
Q. You mentioned the hole locations on the back nine. Do you feel there's a chance this afternoon for a player a couple strokes back to make a late push?
JASON DAY: Yeah, definitely. I'm just trying to think, everything is gettable out there. I mean, pretty much 10 all the way through to 18.
The only real struggle that most guys will probably just start to get a little bit nervous on is coming down 16 through 17. If they get a good drive away on 18, then that's just a wedge shot. But you're hitting a 7-iron to that tight back pin location, trying to land it at least 15 short, roll it to that back pin location on 17. Anytime there's water or any hazard, that gets guys thinking.
Leading up to that, from 10 on, even from like 9 on, you can get something rolling pretty good.
