THE MODERATOR: All right, we'd like to welcome Harry Hall into the interview room here at the 2024 Shriners Children's Open. Harry, this is your fourth appearance at TPC Summerlin; you're had some pretty good finishes here, like top 25 I think each time, or close to it. What do you like about this golf course that suits your game?
HARRY HALL: I know every inch of the place, where to hit it, where not to hit it. I think I'm so familiar on the greens here and know how they roll, where all the breaks are, and all that sort of stuff.
Q. Obviously went to school here, spent a lot of time here, and obviously played here a lot. Playing at home when you have a lot of support, how different is that from any other TOUR event that you play?
HARRY HALL: Really nice. Yeah, I think when you're out there you're so focused. Just looking in the crowds and seeing your family and friends just feels like there is that extra bit of encouragement to play good.
Q. You got your first victory on the PGA TOUR earlier this year in Kentucky. It was a dramatic finish, five-man playoff. Talk about that and what it did for you going forward in your career?
HARRY HALL: Yeah, it was awesome. After the win I played a couple events just a few weeks after. Went back to the UK and played the Irish Open, British Masters and the BMW at Wentworth. That was great to take my little baby girl back there to meet the family and also to play some of the cool events that I grew up watching.
Play in front of an actual home crowd I guess. Yeah, I think this maybe feels more like home, you know, playing in Vegas now than it did playing in England. Yeah, super excited to play in front of a lot of friends and family this week.
Q. What's the plan going forward now that you have status on both tours? What does you your schedule look like in the coming year or two?
HARRY HALL: Yeah, I think it just depends how hot my start is to start the new season in 2025. If I can play good early then I can look at maybe playing more of an international schedule early.
I love what I did this year going over to play those events. Maybe play a few more towards the end of the year hopefully. Yeah, goal right now is to finish as high up on the FedExCup as I can.
Q. Obviously amazing win back at the ISCO Championship. Played in a couple events since then. Do you notice any difference in your confidence or just the way that you carry yourself after getting your first win on the PGA TOUR?
HARRY HALL: Yeah, I think since the win and the couple weeks leading up to it, playing in tournaments since then, I think the level of my golf has been really high.
I think I've showed that just with the positions I've been in going into the weekends and the final days. I haven't quite finished them off. I think my expectations might be a little bit too high but my golf is definitely there.
So I think this week I need to kind of control my emotions a little bit and maybe set my standards a little lower going into the last day and hopefully that will make my relax a little more and make some birdies.
Yeah, my golf since the win has been really good, just as good as it probably was that week. If I can match my mindset and game management, then I think I'll be contending here in the next few weeks.
Q. You feel like the game is in the right spot; it's just more the mental approach is what you're working on right now?
HARRY HALL: Yeah, when I went back to the UK, at the Belfry there, I was in I think the final three groups going into the last day. Well, definitely the Saturday. Then Wentworth, same thing. Last week in Utah, same thing.
So I haven't quite had strong Sundays. If I can have a strong Sunday in the next few weeks and play the same quality golf, I'll be looking at maybe winning another one.
Q. What did you learn from your time at UNLV that you've taken to your professional career now?
HARRY HALL: Yeah, lots. My coaches at the time were Philip Rowe, who was from the same place as me back in England, and Coach Knight, who's a legend in this town. I think I learned everything coming over at 18 years old going straight from England to America, and Las Vegas is quite the place.
You know, just playing Shadow Creek and Southern Highlands and Spanish Trail every day, you know TPC here and playing the course and the schedule we played around the states and learning from Coach Knight and Phil Rowe about the game and how to manage life.
And then the academics college throws at you. I think I learned the whole package.
Q. You say you're a big fan of the Knights and the Raiders. Good sports fan. Can we expect to see any of those guys following you this week on the golf course?
HARRY HALL: Yeah, maybe. Maybe. I know they all love golf and they're going to follow me and probably everyone else in the field. I met a couple Raiders yesterday who like the game; got one of their numbers, so I'm sure we'll play some golf down the line.
Yeah, I'm sure you'll see a few out here this week.
Q. Just touch on the importance of this tournament with the Shriners ambassadors and the kids you see during the week and how important that is for them and you to be here playing this tournament to benefit them.
HARRY HALL: Yeah, you know, anything I can do for the tournament, because I received an exemption here a few years back and that was instrumental in my career as a pro golfer.
Just to see the couple kids today that hit a few shots, it's amazing how serious their lives are. The difference it makes to have the Shriners in their lives and they're able to swing a club after their surgeries, it's amazing what the Shriners do.
Q. How much inspiration does that give you on the golf course?
HARRY HALL: Yeah, I mean, just I think it makes me feel how lucky I am to play the game and be healthy. You know, I think about my girl, Lilah, and hopefully she can stay healthy.
It's nice now the connections I have in this town and tournament and hopefully she'll never need them, but if she does, I'm sure the doors will be open for her, too.
Yeah, just fortunate enough to be healthy.
