Q. Doug, nine birdies and two bogeys today. Just give us an assessment of that round.
DOUG GHIM: Yeah, obviously knowing that we were going to have some wind this afternoon, anything under par was going to be pretty decent.
Didn't necessarily expect to go super deep today. A hot putter on the back nine definitely helped.
Q. Was the putting definitely the key for you? Did you do anything specifically well?
DOUG GHIM: Yeah, no, obviously this is my home golf course when I'm on off weeks, so it's one that I feel very comfortable on.
This whole year I hit the ball pretty well. Just haven't been able to make enough putts. Today was definitely a nice sight to see a lot of the putts go in.
Q. How would you assess your season so far?
DOUG GHIM: Yeah, if I could describe it in one word it would be improvement. The last two years had a lot more stressful fall seasons, so it's nice to kind of have -- it looks like my card was in a good spot going into next season, and just trying to, and it really is a small fraction out here. Just trying to find the one shot a tournament or a quarter of a shot per round, whatever it might be, to get me closer to getting into those elevated events.
Q. Heck of a shot there on the last hole. Just walk us through that chip.
DOUG GHIM: Yeah, obviously that tee shot is very tricky today with the wind being off the left so strong. I feel like maybe it might actually be a little bit of a disadvantage playing here all the time because you're not used to playing with a strong left-to-right wind like that.
It was a tricky second shot, but we tried to leave ourselves in a spot that seemed like we could get up and down from. I was fortunate to draw a good lie in the fairway and it was just a pretty simple pitch that -- there was kind of a shoulder just short and just wanted to carry it and take some of the break out.
Ended up pretty well.
Q. You mentioned trying to qualify, get into these Signature Events. Obviously last year you really kind of had to grind at the end of the fall to get into -- to keep your card. Just describe for viewers at home what that challenge is like to need to really fight down here at the end of the fall while everyone else is going for those points as well?
DOUG GHIM: Yeah, everyone is grinding still obviously. Obviously if you're in the top 50 in the FedEx coming into the fall it might be a little bit more relaxed, just a tiny bit, because you know what your schedule is going to be.
For the most part, everyone is playing for something. Even though I feel like I have any card locked up for next year, obviously a win goes a long way, and I know everybody else in the field is thinking the same thing.
Yeah, you could ask Patton Kizzire. I'm sure he's thinking about winning and being in that 51 and 60. Obviously he's in Maui. The better I play in the fall the better chances I have to get into the Signature Events next spring and for the rest of that year.
And obviously if you get to have a good share of those events on your schedule, you're going to have a pretty good year.
