Q. Doug, just overall takeaways from today? Played really well and was really sticking in there, especially toward the end.
DOUG GHIM: Yeah, I did everything I could obviously. Haven't had the best history so far in final rounds and final groups, so it's definitely going to be a little badge on my chest I guess in a sense that the next time I get in position I'll have that in my memory bank of knowing I've done it before.
At the end of the day you're trying to beat the leader in the final round and I did that. Just came up one short. Yeah, proud of the effort.
Q. You mentioned your experience in past final rounds. Was there anything different, feel any different this time, different mentality you took into it?
DOUG GHIM: Yeah, I guess at the end of the day you learn from all those times, and I guess it can be pretty uncomfortable. Today was no different. It was still just an uncomfortable.
But little things like being at my home course obviously helps a little bit. I guess at the end of the day it was just to try to take my time and try to really enjoy being uncomfortable as long as possible.
It's really, really hard to do that because obviously it's a lot of pressure and everything I've ever dreamed of, right, is winning out here.
So doing my best to not think about those things, but at the same time embrace the discomfort throughout the whole round.
I think today I did a better job of just staying within that discomfort the whole day instead of trying to run away from it.
Q. Does it help at all knowing you're getting on an airplane to go play in ZOZO next week and getting right back into it, get to go play four full rounds knowing how well you're striking it right now?
DOUG GHIM: Absolutely. It's definitely a confidence boost moving forward. I'm obviously disappointed. At the end of the day JT played well. He played well all week.
You know, I played as well as I could have. Obviously there is some missed opportunities I can look back on.
The fact that we get to go and play the ZOZO, and I know there is a lot of players that would like to be there and won't be able to, so it'll be a fun challenge. It's going to be a lot of the fun being on the other side of the world. Yeah, I'm grateful for the opportunity.
Q. Lastly from me, you just told Kevin, scaring the hole there on 18 more or less and knowing you had to at least put one close to put some pressure on JT. Take us through that shot and your mentality.
DOUG GHIM: Yeah, obviously this being one of my home courses I have a decent amount of memories of stuffing it close to beat some of my buddies.
Obviously this is a very different situation, but like I was saying before I think it was maybe three years ago I had to make the cut on the number. I needed to make birdie on 18 to the same pin on a Friday. It was arguably a lot harder. It was into the wind and 6-iron instead of a 9 today.
I kind of hit it in a pretty -- it wasn't the exact same putt, but it was kind of a similar spot on the green. Made that putt to make the cut on the number. Even though it wasn't the exact same shot it was kind of in my head as I was going into it.
At the end of the day if you told me you on Monday that I would have a shot to put pressure on JT on a Sunday on the 72nd hole, I would've taken it. Yeah, that was the last thing I thought and tried it stuff it.
Luckily I did. (Smiling.)
