Tom Hoge

Quick Quotes

Q. 4-under, another great round at Spy. Tell me about your round.

TOM HOGE: Yeah, I guess first off I just love being at Spyglass I always enjoy playing there. It's usually the first nine holes I go play is the back nine at Spyglass when I show up here. But it's a hard golf course, I knew it was going to be a challenge today that some of the leaders had the easier golf courses, so I had to make some birdies to keep pace there.

Q. You said is that kind of an advantage you said you're comfortable with that course and with the format playing three courses being able to put up?

TOM HOGE: I don't know what it is but I always seem to shoot better scores at Spyglass than I have at some of the others. I don't know, I mean, it certainly is an advantage just from the way the scoring averages are and all the golf courses, but I seem to play Spyglass a little bit better, so it was a good one for me today.

Q. And I heard it was caddie Henry's birthday so was it kind of a game plan where it was like put up a good number?

TOM HOGE: No, there was nothing to it there. We had dinner early in the week to kind of celebrate his birthday, but any good mojo we can have our way is appreciated.

Q. Positioning, is it something you're comfortable with heading into tomorrow that you did enough the previous three rounds?

TOM HOGE: My game feels good, I was just in the final group in Palm Springs a couple weeks ago, so that helps being in that situation. I've just, my goal coming into the year was try to put myself in this position a little bit more and here we are another chance.

So just got to go out and just play well again. I certainly felt a lot more comfortable in Palm Springs being there and played well down the stretch so hopefully that can carry forward here.

Q. What were the takeaways from the American Express?

TOM HOGE: I don't think there's any big takeaways, but just being there and having that pressure, it's just a little bit different, it's just something you've got to be in that situation and get comfortable with. So kind of the more times you get there the more times hopefully your best can come out on a Sunday.

Q. Pebble will be playing a little bit different more crowds tomorrow than earlier when you played it in the week. Is that something that kind of helps motivates or the atmosphere playing in?

TOM HOGE: It will be fun. I was in the last group here with Jordan last year and no crowds so it will be a lot more fun to have people out and have a little excitement there.

Q. Talk about how you manage your emotions, a great day in the first round, yesterday was a little tougher, today you come back with a great round, how do you manage that?

TOM HOGE: Yeah, yesterday was frustrating for sure. The start that I got off to at Monterey I was two over par through eight holes on a golf course that was very gettable with a lot of birdies. So it was frustrating and I almost felt like I had a little bit more life, that I was still in the golf tournament. It was a great round on Thursday to start with, lost some momentum yesterday, but kind of felt fortunate to still be in it.
