Quick Quotes

Q. You guys were tied through eight and you won four of the next five. What did you do to take control of this match?

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: He missed a couple short putts and I think I hit one close on 10 and he kind of gave me the one on 9 and I gave him one on 11. The wind -- the back nine was a little more exposed, so those short little three-, four-, five-footers are a little trickier in the wind. I think it was sort of my start that sort of kept me in this. I hit one OB, I hit one in the hazard and was able to make par and had a chip-out on 1, too. Some good wedge shots early that kind of kept me in it.

Q. What is your approach with regard to the challenges of playing in match play?

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Just handling your own business. You'll take a peek at what your playing opponent is doing, but for the most part you just kind of be better and handle your own business, you should be fine.

Q. You just had a run of birdies that took command of the middle section of the golf course.

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, he also gave me a couple holes there. Like I said before, those are three, four, five-footers there in the wind, a little more exposed there on 11 and on 9 are a little trickier. You have to play for it, and was able to get things to swing my way.

Q. A 3 & 2 win; important to conserve energy on a long week. Any thoughts of playing in just to see what 17 and 18 are playing like?

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, we had that -- I'm assuming most of the guys that played last week like myself didn't get to see one of the sides. I played the front nine on Tuesday and hit the tee shots on 10, 11 and 12. I'm going to probably go with my caddie and if we have room play 17 and 18 just to see what's going on.
