Q. That first point on the first day, your thoughts on the match? You had a lot of birdies on that front nine to close him out here at 15.
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, I played really well. Felt like I was in pretty good control of the golf ball all day. Yeah, just good start to the week.
Q. What was the key for you today as far as your game was concerned? What was the most important thing?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, I've been working a lot to get the equipment right. The driver has been a little bit of a struggle, but today it's probably the best I've driven the golf ball in quite some time, and if you drive the ball well around here you can really open up some of the holes. I feel like I did everything pretty well. I had one little hiccup in the fairway on the last, but other than that I had a big enough lead to sort of hold tight.
Q. How important is it to get that first point early?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, with two more matches it's kind of a free for all, but goal is to go 3-0. I've gone 2 and 1 a few times here and haven't gotten out of the bracket, so everyone knows what you need to do.
