Quick Quotes

Q. Sam, how would you kind of characterize the match and your thoughts on moving on?

SAM BURNS: It was kind of a strange day now that it's so sunny and nice out. This morning it felt like we were in like Pebble or something. Nasty rain for the first six holes.

I think overall I played really solid. Other than one hole, I felt like I didn't really give him anything. I hit a bad iron shot on 11.

Other than that, I feel like I kept myself in it. I made a really good par putt on 8 to keep from going 2-down, then got it back to all square through nine.

Yeah, it just honestly came down to holing a couple putts there at the end. I think we both played pretty solid, and that's typically what it comes down to.

Q. How big are some of those kind of momentum putts? Like you just talked about not going 2-down, staying within one hole. How big with those putts during a match?

SAM BURNS: It's huge. I missed that putt on 8, and all of a sudden he's 2-up and has a little momentum. It's harder for me to get back.

Yeah, those putts, saving those is always nice for sure.

Q. What do you feel like you've done the best over these first three days that you want to obviously carry into tomorrow?

SAM BURNS: I think, especially with the way the golf course has played, just trying to minimize the mistakes. And I feel like we've done a pretty good job of that so far. A couple here and there I wish I could have back.

I think just keeping myself in it and giving myself a chance with my putter.
