Q. You just took out one of the best players of this generation. What did it take?
CAMERON YOUNG: It took a lot. Paul and I were just talking and we stuck to just doing the same things we did all day down the stretch. Unfortunately, I had a couple really good opportunities on 16 and 17 and kind of hit some good putts that didn't go in. But we just kept pounding away, kept sticking to what we were planning to do, and thankful we made it.
Q. What did you learn about yourself today?
CAMERON YOUNG: It's just further proof that I feel like I can hang with anybody in the world. Rory's obviously one of the best of his generation, if not the best, and one of the best players in the world right now. So anytime you get to go out and play 19 holes with him it's a lot of fun. Just thankful to get it done.
Q. What a match against Rory McIlroy, one of the best in the world, and it takes one extra hole, and you got the job done today to get to the championship match.
CAMERON YOUNG: Yeah, it was a lot of fun. It's never fun being down to someone like that with a few holes to go. Paul said to me on 15, he said, If you birdie the last three after we didn't birdie 15, if you birdie the last three, we might get to play another one. And fortunately, just two was enough to just push it to extra holes and that was obviously a really nice birdie there after a bad break.
Q. Do you think maybe the second shot at the par-5 16th, that kind of started to sway things in your direction?
CAMERON YOUNG: Yeah, I think so. It's a hole that I played really well this week. I had three really good opportunities to make three, and it was a really, really good number for me. It was just a full out 4-iron. I hit it really as well as I know how. So to have it end up somewhere where I have a chance for birdie was great. Obviously you hate to root against people, but when he's got 15 feet from the fringe, you're kind of thinking you might get one back with a birdie, which is unexpected on that hole. You expect him to make 4 all day.
