Hudson Swafford

Quick Quotes

Q. Your thoughts on your moving day round.

HUDSON SWAFFORD: Patient. Didn't have my best stuff probably tee to green. I thought I hit it a lot better maybe the first two days compared to today, but I was really patient. Rolled it great today. Didn't beat myself, didn't really get down. Kept it in play, missing in the right spots. Had a couple nice up-and-downs. It kind of just kept me going and made a few putts. It was nice.

Q. Was it hard to be patient at times when you saw there were some low scores? Then you still ended up shooting 66 in the end.

HUDSON SWAFFORD: Yeah, absolutely. I made a couple birdies early and then a couple bad swings on 7 and just overdrew it on 8 and made bogey. Hit a good putt and misread it on 9. Made the turn at 2-under, which is never terrible around here on the front nine. I was just like I feel like I'm losing ground.

But I wasn't hitting it -- my ball control wasn't quite good enough to really kind of press. So I wasn't really getting upset. Just kind of stayed patient, and I started to hit some pretty good shots and rolled in some putts, and it turned into a pretty good one.

Q. It sounds like to me the mental side of things was really on fire today, maybe not as much the physical side.

HUDSON SWAFFORD: Yeah, absolutely. I didn't beat myself today. Kind of just played within myself and just knew that just get it on the green. I was rolling it well. So just get it on the green as fast as possible, whether it was 30 feet or 2 feet.

Yeah, just try not to beat myself today. It wasn't great, but it was still a great result.

Q. The course obviously is much more gettable today without the 20 to 30 mile an hour winds. Would you kind of agree?

HUDSON SWAFFORD: Yeah, absolutely. I played a really fantastic round of golf, I think, yesterday. I only missed like four greens. Everything was clicking yesterday, but blowing 30, it presents its challenges around here.

Q. Heading into Sunday, do you feel like your game is turning in the direction where you feel you've got a really great shot tomorrow to bring home the title?

HUDSON SWAFFORD: Absolutely. Just kind of stay patient like I did today. Rolling it well. I'm swinging at it great. So, yeah, it will be a fun back nine tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it.

Q. You quietly had a pretty good Masters week last week, under the radar. How much confidence did that give you?

HUDSON SWAFFORD: It was great. You know what, I played that place a little timid in my last few trips around there, and I got off to a little timid start on my front nine, and I just said screw it.

You can keep playing that way and not play well, and I started playing a little bit more aggressive and hitting those putts at six, seven feet, a little bit more aggressive and keeping them online.

Yeah, I played a great next few rounds for sure, and it was very close on Sunday. As you all know, it's a fine line there. Anything can kind of happen being one, two feet off. So a couple bogeys coming in. But I played really solid last week.

So really starting to see some things come together in my game. Just kind of looking forward to going forward.
